First impression was odd. Classic diner vibe was nice but the sandwich board sign said to wait outside to be seated and to use my patience. Ok .... did as told. Wasn't super hot outside. Next I notice a classic old automobile parked up on the curb. The front plate said "F_CK Trudeau". Didn't know you could get a vanity plate in Ontario with a vulgarity on it. I shook my head in disgust. While I believe in freedom of speech I also don't think the "F" word should be used on signage in a public place. For such a classy car it was a very unclassy thing to have on the front of your vehicle. I'm a grown up and have been known to drop an "F-bomb" but I do it in private and certainly not in front of children.
I did not think at the time the vehicle was connected to the business. I should have known. When we were finally noticed and invited inside the cheerful waitress came over with our drinks while we checked out the menu. The inside vibe was like the outside. Very 60s diner with comfortable seating. Looked like home cooked meals as I saw other food being delivered to tables around us. My orange juice came in an ice cold frosty mug. As my husband and I looked around right above our heads I noticed a very unusual sign. "Trump 2024" A very authentic looking Trump election sign. I have to say at first I was taken aback wondering why on earth a USA election sign was hanging in a local business. Then I remembered the car outside and realized the owner must support the views of Donald Trump and in turn has a hate-on for our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Again, I believe in freedom of speech and an owner can do or say what he/she wants in his/her own establishment. That of course allows me the same freedoms. We made the choice to stand up, head to the cash to pay our bill (cash only) without ordering and leave. I did vocally state the reason I was leaving was because of the sign and that I would appreciate the owner knowing my displeasure. If he was in the business at the time, he/she did not speak up. The waitress said she was not the owner and didn't seem to care one way or another. Unless the owner has American citizenship and can vote in the US elections I do not know why he would post this sign. If he does have American citizenship, not sure why he would bring such a divisive election sign to his place of business. Times must be good for her/him if he is willing to lose clientele. I will...
Read moreHowever we can state honestly this is hands down the best breakfast, burger joint we ever had in at least all of ON. Everything there made fresh, as you order, no frozen cheap tricks. In fact this place is so good, our kids insisted we eat there every day while we were on vacation.
We have tried Big Breakfast, Steak and Eggs, Chocolate Chip pancakes, Apple Fritter French Toast (try this!!!), Breakfast Bowl, Peppercorn burger and bacon double cheese burger which puts Wendy's baconator to shame. I guarantee there will be something for anyone to try and love at this place, I'd be genuinely shocked if anyone couldn't stand it.
It's clean with a 50s vibe to it. From the cooks to the waitresses, every staff is nice, professional, not in your face but also willing to chat if you are. Most importantly you can tell they passionately care about what they cook and how they serve it; you won't find a better place I swear it. Although I don't live there, for me I decided it's worth the 30 minute drive just to go back, so I can't wait to take my family again; thank you truly for the best experience I've seen in a long while. The only place to come close to this level of service and great food was a diner in...
Read moreHonestly if I could give zero stars or even negative stars I would. My rating is not based on any of the menu items so for all I know it could be truly an establishment with wonderfully delicious food. I am proud to be Canadian… born and raised. However, today I was made to feel different from everyone else. In my 40+ years of life I have never felt like this. I understand if you’re busy and not having a good day, that’s fine. But when a customer comes in and asks if they could grab one of the tables outside, treat them as customers. That’s all I ask. Instead, I’m greeted with a questionable look, cut-eye and a curt “You can if you want. I’ll be with you when I can.” Ok. Fine. I take a seat with my family outside and we patiently wait. Over 20 minutes pass and we see customers come and go. Kids are hungry. Husband enters to see if we could get takeout instead. He comes out and just quickly says, “We’re leaving.” They didn’t want our business so we happily gave it to Tim’s instead where we were treated well just like...
