I get the best value for my money on their products I purchase compared to anywhere else, particularly when I either combine discounted items with a coupon or regular priced items with the Sustainable Sundays discount with a coupon. I bring in my food scale and mason jars to weigh how much I need to be just above the threshold for their coupons to get the best value.
Unfortunately, I had an inconvenient visit, which wasn’t typical, and is why I’m not going to rate Bulk Barn as being 5 stars, as much as I’d like to. I weighed 1,163 grams of discounted almonds to be just above the $20 threshold for a $5 off coupon. At checkout, my bill was unexpectedly $25.33. I figured I must have somehow accidentally miscalculated how much to purchase, so I brushed it off and paid for it regardless. When I looked over the receipt in my vehicle, I saw I was charged for 1,763 grams of almonds—600 grams more than I anticipated. I weighed them again; I had 1,163 grams. I went back into the store with my jars and receipts and told the cashier and manager what happened. The cashier said she may have made a mistake with the decimal point when she weighed it again. The manager eventually handed me $5.35. It wasn’t until I arrived home and looked over my receipts again that I realized I was still owed $5, so I returned and explained my situation to the manager; he gave me $5 more. I was charged about $10.33 more than what I should have been.
I understand all of this was just a simple mistake and that something like this can happen to anybody. It won’t deter me from shopping here. I’d just advise anybody reading my review to weigh the products you’re purchasing yourself to ensure you’re getting what...
Read moreWill never return! This afternoon I went in with my daughter to get a few valentines things. I was wearing a mask, my 13 year old daughter cannot. “Sharon” calls out for her to put a mask on and I told her unfortunately she can’t wear one. She says, “no masky, no shoppy”. And that she could wait outside. I then said, “well I guess we’ll leave then”. (I’m not going to make my daughter stand outside while I shop). I told her for medical reason she can’t wear one. She just walks away and says, “medical reasons don’t apply here”. Sharon, you were incredibly rude and insensitive. I mean, you have no clue my daughters medical past and there was no care or sympathy for her whatsoever. As if she has no value. If this is what our world is turning into… I want none of it. And I will teach my child she has value… if she can’t shop there,...
Read moreWe have been long time and loyal Customers of Bulk Barn in B.C. and Alberta. We recently shopped at the Kelowna Bulk Barn. We purchased a number of items, including DRY ROASTED UNSALTED PEANUTS. We sampled them at home, and we both found the PEANUTS RANCID (with my wife becoming naseous). We returned to the Kelowna Bulk Barn. We met Johnny, who BOASTED of owning 4 Bulk Barn locations in the Okanagan. Johnny tried to sluff off our experience as it had never occurred (in front of several Customers) and was indifferent and unconcerned. As Johnny provided us the refund, we noticed his VERY WELL REHEARSED procedure of providing refunds, realizing that this was a COMMON OCCURENCE. Nevertheless, RANCID Products and LACK of Customer Concern are 2 REASONS We are NOT RETURNING to Kelowna Bulk Barn. There are MANY other Bulk...
