I’m not one to usually write reviews, but I feel like this time it’s deserved. Restaurant had 2 cash girls and 4 guys in the back kitchen. 2 families already eating none in line. Started off great, girl at the front explained how their menu worked amazingly. We ordered 2 dishes. 5 minutes went by, another couple came in to order . Another 5 minutes go by, 2 people come in to pick up 2 different orders. Still waiting. I see them put half my order in the bag with my name. They then serve the first couple their food. Followed by serving 1 of the people with the order their food. Still waiting. Next person with the online order gets served. Takes off. I ask what’s going on. I had 2 dishes and you’ve served 3 other people who came well after and left. The explanation I got was that there’s only 1 guy in the back cooking the food. This place is open concept and you can see everyone working. At this point the restaurant has emptied out. I finally get my food which the only person who apologized was the stellar front girl who took our order. Is it frustrating to wait over 30 minutes for 2 noodle dishes? Absolutely. But to my true sadness I get home with 1 cold dish that was made first and 1 hot dish, open up both dishes to find the “chicken” protein is 7 pea-sized chopped chicken peices. I’m not sure if this is what they were going for, but for 35$ and neither dishes to have any noticeable protein, and have this sort of service I’m really disappointed. I will still absolutely give it another chance and chalk it up as “still in training” but these guys really really need to step up their game. Next time just be honest and tell your customers “hey we messed up and forgot your second order, we will heat up the first one and fix this” don’t lie when your customers can see 3 guys standing around in the kitchen while...
Read moreI hardly do a reviews when it comes to bad foods /services etch. I always want to leave a reviews to all my best experience. And when its bad, its just i let it be and never comeback again, But this is something I believe that i need to leave some review. “Its a horrible experience twice” Once I was admit its my mistakes for choosing scorching level of spicy . Since i can eat chili and i know i can handle spicy, but the scorching is WWWWAAAAYYYYY TOOOO SPICY until you cant eat and you feel that your throat your esophagus was burning. I cant even eat the meal … so this time we made sure food are edible. We will enjoy the dinner tonight. I ask the lady just gave me mild or the less spicy food, since the food i had last time was messed up withe level of spice, She told me that theres a mild and medium spice of my panang curry laksa. I choose mild since i wanted to enjoy my meal tonight. But still it turns bad,. And i can say its a worst meal i ever had, Its not mild spicy, its SPICY AND its almost the scorching level of spice. I tried the laksa when i was in Malaysia, and even its Singapore, its WAYYYYY TOOO FAR from the taste Ive tried before, its tasteless, and dry, theres no even soup on that, which is normally it comes like a noodle soup ….. the taste i cant even define, its too plain, and all i taste is the spicy…. Its expensive for this kind of food.
I will never...
Read moreFirst time trying the Kelowna location, ordered through Skip. I haven't had Noodle Box outside of Victoria before. I didn't have high hopes of this location based on reviews from friends... too spicy, lack of flavor, expensive. I selected a lower spice level than my usual and gave my favorite peanut noodle box a try. First few bites were OK. It had the appearance of the norm, aside from the massive chunks of broccoli, and a miniscule portion of chicken and an absence of that little wedge of lime that I am used to having it topped with... oh and the box is smaller than I remember. Even at medium, the spice overpowered all other flavors. I ended up mixing in a pinch of MSG to enhance the rich creamy flavors of the peanut sauce and herb flavors... it was needed to compliment and subdue the aggressive spice. It was now close to how I remembered it, and I couldn't put the box down. I did put a little squish of lime toward the end. I got damn close to that nostalgic flavor that was my go to take-out for over a decade. Too bad I had to doctor it up myself. I will definitely...
