OUR FIRST AND LAST EXPERIENCE
I’d like to share a disturbing experience 5 of us had at this restaurant.
We ordered several dishes, including: Eggplant dish – It was extremely salty and barely edible. Fried prawns – The batter was far too thick, making it feel like we were eating just batter with a tiny shrimp inside. It was disappointing in both taste and quality. Steamed Tilapia – This was the most troubling. At the very first bite, I realized it was undercooked—actually raw in parts. I took a photo of the raw portion and immediately called the waitress, asking her to discard the dish. She acknowledged the issue and said it wouldn’t be charged to the bill, which I appreciated.
However, the biggest issue came during payment.
I paid my bill using a credit card, only to find that a 15% tip had been automatically added without my approval. I was never given the option to choose or enter a tip myself. When I asked why this was the case, the waitress explained that their restaurant charges tips automatically. I told her I was not happy with that, especially considering the poor service and the quality of food.
She began justifying the tip by pointing out that they didn’t charge me for the Chinese tea and the raw steamed fish. But these items should not have been charged anyway due to the complaints.
Tipping should never be forced, especially when service was minimal and food quality was unsatisfactory. In our case, food was brought by a robot, and the waitress only came to take the order and when we complained. That hardly qualifies for a 15% service charge.
This experience left me feeling disappointed and taken advantage of. I urge others to check their bills carefully and question any automatic charges. Such practices are misleading and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.
This restaurant deserves no star. No option...
Read moreLVS Chinese restaurant in Kelowna offers a mixed dining experience, blending traditional Chinese flavors with contemporary twists. The restaurant's ambiance is inviting, with modern décor and a cozy atmosphere perfect for both intimate dinners and family gatherings.
The menu at LVS showcases a wide variety of Chinese dishes, ranging from classic favorites like General Tso's chicken and sweet and sour pork to more adventurous options like Szechuan spicy hot pot and crispy duck. Each dish is prepared with fresh ingredients and skillfully crafted to deliver authentic flavors.
Service at LVS is attentive and friendly, with staff members knowledgeable about the menu and eager to assist diners in making their selections. However, wait times during peak hours can be slightly lengthy, so it's advisable to make reservations in advance.
While the food at LVS is generally well-executed and flavorful, some dishes may lack the boldness and depth of flavor found in more traditional Chinese establishments. Additionally, portion sizes can be inconsistent, with some dishes feeling slightly smaller than expected for the price.
Overall, LVS Chinese restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with a modern twist on classic Chinese cuisine, making it a worthwhile option for those seeking a taste of...
Read moreOrdered 5 dishes for a group of 4 for dinner. The Hot & Sour Soup ($14.95) was a hit - thick, chock full of ingredients, with a definite 'kick' in the flavour. The Seafood Tofu Hot Pot ($28.95) was tasty, and contained a variety of seafood like shrimp, scallop, and squid. The Stir Fried Minced Pork & Green Bean ($19.95) barely had any minced pork, as shown in the picture. There was a decent amount of green beans, but the pork was almost non-existent! The Chicken in Black Bean Sauce ($18.95) had various vegetables, and we thought this dish was tasty and plentiful. The black bean sauce was on the lighter side, and not as thick as we're used to with the cuisine.
We thought the Beef Brisket with Carrots ($23.95) was a rather small portion and served lukewarm, not piping hot as we're used to at Chinese restaurants (with many dishes like this, and hot pot, served in a clay pot). Very few carrots. Beef was tender though, and it contained quite a bit of daikon instead.
Overall, a few good dishes but 2 misses. For the price point, we wish the dishes were more consistent and the ingredients were 'as advertised' such as the scarce minced pork. Service was fine, and the dishes came out in a reasonable time. Would be interested to try some of their other items...
