It hurts me to write a review this bad, because we used to love going to Shoreline and would have called it our favourite neighborhood pub. The patio and view can't really be beat, it's a great area.
We arrived for dinner around 7:15 on Saturday April 26th. It was striking to me how quiet it was, even on a weekend with decent weather. We were greeted and seated promptly by the host. He immediately cleaned our table because it hadn't been wiped.
We then sat for a while and waited for our server. After about 5 minutes, she came to our table and asked us if she could start us with drinks. She did not introduce herself or come off as particularly friendly, which was strange for us at Shoreline as the service before had always been very personable. We ordered 2 beers and 2 waters, which took about 10 minutes to arrive. She asked us if we would be eating, to which we said yes but that we needed to look over the menu for a minute to decide. She left us to it, and this is where it all went downhill.
We sat there for 25 minutes before she checked on us again. Our beers were almost empty, and we had tried to hail her several times (but of course we didn't know her name). At this point we started to notice that other tables around us were also disgruntled and annoyed. When she finally did come back, we ordered wings to share and 2 more drinks. She took the order, our beers were brought almost immediately, and then we didn't see her again until the wings were brought. They were arranged on one plate, no side plates, no napkins, no dip, no celery stick, literally nothing, just 10 sad wings on a plate. My husband got up and grabbed napkins himself, and he also brought some for the table beside us as they also hadn't been brought napkins or side plates. At this moment the waitress reappeared, we asked for side plates almost as an experiment, and then proceeded to eat all of the wings on the plate long before she ever came back.
At this point it had been almost 90 minutes of sitting and mostly waiting. When the waitress returned to take our plate, there was no mention of the missing side plates or even any acknowledgement of how slow and weird everything was. We ordered our mains at this point, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. The portions were small, but for the most part the food tasted ok. The burgers used to be a heck of a lot better. We were not checked on again until our plates were cleared.
All in all, it was a sad surprise to see the service and atmosphere of such a cool pub go so drastically downhill. The patio was messy, tables were left uncleared and dirty, the service was incredibly slow and not friendly, and the overall effect was one of neglect and disappointment. The feeling on the patio at Shoreline used to be so excellent - friendly staff, good pub style food, good beer and just an overall fun vibe. After this experience I'm not sure we will be back and that is a...
Read moreIn response to the manager’s reply: I understand that this was not because I am Asian.
I was told that my drink was unavailable, so I ordered an orange juice instead. However, I was served something that appeared to be a cocktail, which was later replaced with orange juice. On the bill, the cocktail price was listed, and when I pointed this out to the server, she said, “It’s the same price!” I then pointed to the menu on the table and said, “It’s clearly not, right?” The server went to correct the bill without offering an apology.
Mistakes can happen to anyone, and I am not blaming anyone for that, nor do I wish to attack a staff member personally. However, the way the mistake was handled felt far too careless. This is simply my honest account of how I felt during my visit as an Asian customer.
If your team is confident in that level of service, then I truly cannot recommend this place to anyone.
My drink was the only one that never arrived. So I politely asked the server. To my shock, she snapped at me and said, “I told you — we don’t have it!” I was stunned and left speechless by her rudeness.
I then had to reorder, but what came was completely different from what I had asked for — and worse, it included ingredients I’m allergic to. So I approached the man at the bar, who had been making the drinks, and explained the situation. He was kind, apologized, and brought me the correct drink right away.
However, the server’s rude behavior didn’t stop there.
When she brought the bill, it included a drink I never ordered. I pointed it out and said, “I don’t think this is what I ordered,” but she replied, “It’s the same price.“ Of course it wasn’t!! She sighed and finally went to fix the bill.
Every other winery, restaurant, shop — even McDonald’s and gas stations — welcomed us warmly during our trip to Kelowna. But this was the only place that treated us so...
Read moreI have never left a bad review before but the experience our group had at this establishment was one of the worst ever. Terrible service, rude and arrogant staff. We had a reservation for a birthday and upon arriving was told there was no reservation for us, however it appeared that the lady we were speaking to was the lady on the phone when we made our reservation. Instead got sat in the corner at a long high top by the loud trivia speaker where we had to shout across each other in order to have a conversation. We had a decent sized group too so it was impossible to have a conversation with the people siting at the opposite end of the table. There was no apology or attempt at making the situation right by who appeared to be the supervisor. Our waiter was nice and friendly and did her best, and so was the guy running the trivia, but the lady at the bar with long red hair had a terrible attitude. At one point we saw a patron at a different table across the restaurant give her the middle finger (the lady with the red hair, not our waiter) as she turned her back, so I feel like that says it all. Several people in our group had been here before and raved about it, but none of us will ever return. We did give it a chance but ended up leaving after one beer, I had the watermelon one which was mediocre at best. We went to a different brewery that we have been to many times and had a much more positive experience and the food, beer, and staff were 10x better. Overall, avoid...
