Appalling! Would never return again to this restaurant. Over Rated Breakfast for 6 - July 11th, 2020 - 10:00am After waiting for 45mins to get in (with reservations), we waited ANOTHER 1hr20min to be served our breakfast for 6. When our breakfast was finally served, 3 Eggs & Benny meals were so hard, we actually had to request STEAK knives to cut through english muffins. Home fries were burnt and extremely dark (old oil not being changed often enough), and egg's were cold. We also couldn't even finish our coffee's because our waitress never delivered sugar and cream after 2 requests. Because this breakfast was for parent-inlaws to meet for the first time, we waited it out to be served. Under any other circumstances, we would have left after waiting so long, compounded by the fact we were visiting from out of town, options were limited. And lastly in closing, in this current stage of Covid 19, a HUGE thumbs down to the management for this date and time, for ever allowing two women who were so scantily clad women from ever entering the restaurant to begin with and to sit at the front entrance counter in bikini THONG swimsuits. No shoes, no shirts, no sarongs, barely covered. It was such a turn off that so much of their underside skin (and Im being polite) was ever allowed to come in contact with PLASTIC seating in a restaurant, is beyond reproach. A simple call to the Interior Health Authority is more than needed here along with a proper COVID 19 WCB plan. Somebody had to wipe those seats, and Im glad it wasn't me. People who know me and my restaurant background will understand and know that I dont often give such a poor review of restaurants, but Diner Delux was an epic failure and we will not be returning, nor will I be recommending this establishment to my inner circle of culinary professionals of chefs & bloggers when visiting Kelowna. One star because "No Stars"...
Read moreI am not the type of person to leave poor reviews but this time, it just felt necessary. I went there on my 19th birthday (March 17th) with my 2 friends knowing it was probably gonna be busy judging how it was a Sunday and also a holiday. We got there at around 11am and it was packed inside but nobody was on the patio. The women that greeted us at the door said it would take around 15 minutes (which was perfectly fine) and handed us a buzzer and told us that she would inform us on the buzzer when a table has opened up for us. We let her know that we would be outside to wait. We stood outside chatting for 20 minutes and the buzzer didn’t go off, then we proceeded to stand outside infront of the building so the women wouldn’t forget. We got chatting again and realized that we had been waiting outside for 40 minutes with the buzzer being dead silent and they were seating other people who were walking in. The patio was filling up (which they could’ve sat us at when we got there) and there were tables inside opening up so we went in to sit inside on the waiting bench and they ignored us completely. My friend and I work in the service industry so we understand what it means to be busy especially during a rush, but to make people wait around for 40 minutes and expecting to be buzzed in, is a bit bizarre and left a rancid taste in my mouth. The moral of this review is although the food is good, the service lacks everything it means to work in the service industry. Thanks for wasting nearly an...
Read moreI have tried to give this place a chance 3 times now. And all 3 times have been the same experience…great food, bad service. I myself have worked in the service industry awhile, and have a very good understanding of what good service looks like. If you are looking for that, avoid this diner. I once even left a 20$ tip for a server who gave bad service, out of the kindness of my heart (maybe she was having a bad day). But ended up receiving the exact same kind of service the next time I tried to dine there. Obviously not a bad day for the server, I just don’t think the service training there is up to standard. Like i said, they have great breakfast food, but the environment itself isn’t one that will leave you with a smile. I have tried to give it a chance, but even the last time i attempted to dine there they told me they would buzz me for a table and actually never did (i waited nearly an hour). I ended up going to Cora in the mall and the service there was 10-0 with this diner. The server at Cora was very friendly, bubbly and made great conversation which is something I had never received at Diner Deluxe. Sad to leave this review, but It’s important people are aware of the environment this...
