My husband and I moved here from Southeastern Ontario years ago, and have struggled to find the kind of food that can compete with what we had access to living in the Toronto to Montreal corridor. A few hours in either direction and everything you could imagine was available. A massive culinary import trade brings in an abundance of fresh and diverse ingredients, and there are chefs from all over the world seemingly on every block. I had no idea how spoiled we were!
The first bite of food we had here, we finally felt home again. This was the best Indian food we've had in 5 years, and it almost brought me to tears 😅.
You can tell the chef not only loves to cook, but loves to eat. The dishes we had were balanced and layered expertly. The way the flavour profile played out in each bite highlighted the individual spices, sour and sweet notes so well you can tell that each dish is being tasted, checked and tweaked until the chef has it just right.
That kind of love for food always shows itself, and that kind of passion in a chef really gets to shine when they're given the reigns to do what they love in the kitchen. The quality of the ingredients was fantastic, it really feels like the kitchen and staff are getting what they need from the owner and/or management to make this a really special place.
The only slightly missed step was that the Lamb in the Vindaloo was juuuuust slightly over cooked. Honestly, we wouldn't even mention it given how tricky a stewed lamp is, except that that it seems like the kind of kitchen that would genuinely want to know.
We were there on July 20th, and ended up misplacing the receipt. We didn't want to leave our review until we could give credit to our server Maira, who provided such friendly, authentically enjoyable and naturally professional service we've had in awhile.
She didn't interrupt mid bite or while there was food in your mouth to check in, she waited until there was a natural break. She was always scanning to see if anyone needed her attention so we didn't have to try to flag anyone down. In contrast to one server who walked past us while we said "Excuse me" 3 times, she double backed when she thought we might he talking to her, just to make sure she didn't miss a customers need.
When someone else was bringing out the food to the table, she followed up immediately to make sure it was all there and corrected a missed dish right away.
She gave great suggestions, and was relaxing and fun to interact with.
We ended up here after driving around downtown for an hour, looking for an open patio and parking. This was a fluke stop for us, and turned out to be an...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting an authentic Indian restaurant that left me utterly captivated by its exquisite flavors and traditional ambiance.
Let's begin with the star of the show - the tandoori chicken wings. These succulent delights were a testament to the art of perfectly executed tandoori cooking. Each bite revealed tender and soft chicken wings, infused with a harmonious blend of spices that danced on my palate. The smoky aroma and the subtle tanginess were simply irresistible. It was an absolute delight to indulge in these flavorsome wings.
Moving on to the lamb masala, I was immediately greeted by a fragrant symphony of spices that filled the air. The dish itself was a masterpiece, showcasing the chef's expertise in balancing flavors. The tender lamb cooked to perfection was immersed in a rich, aromatic masala sauce. The combination of spices was nothing short of a sensory delight, leaving a lasting impression on my taste buds. It was a true celebration of Indian culinary heritage.
No Indian meal is complete without naan, and this restaurant certainly knows how to make it right. The naan served here was a testament to the commitment to freshness and quality. Each piece was freshly made, boasting a soft and fluffy texture, with just the right amount of char from the tandoor. The warm, pillowy naan was the perfect accompaniment to the vibrant curries, allowing me to savor every last bit of the flavors.
While the food was undeniably exceptional, it's worth noting that the freshness and quality meant that waiting a bit for the food was inevitable. However, the attentive and friendly staff made sure to keep me informed about the status of my order, and the wait was definitely worth it.
The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor that reflected the rich cultural heritage of India. The attentive and knowledgeable staff members were eager to assist, offering recommendations and ensuring a seamless dining experience.
In conclusion, my visit to this authentic Indian restaurant was an absolute delight. The tandoori chicken wings were tender and soft, the lamb masala was a fragrant masterpiece, and the freshly made naan added the perfect touch to the meal. Though the wait for the food was a bit longer, the flavors and overall experience were well worth it.
If you're seeking an authentic culinary journey through India, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. Prepare to have your taste buds tantalized and your senses transported to the vibrant...
Read moreHands down this is the best Indian food I have had in forever! The portions are generous and the flavours outstanding! I had Lamb Korma , naan , rice, and Raita…all delicious! The service, by the owner, was very good! I’ll definitely return. We ate in and the decor is very contemporary and with comfortable chairs and high end details at the bar and in the washrooms. I can’t wait to try some other dishes, especially after seeing what came to the other patrons…it all looked above average! Thank you to the chef and owner! I’ll definitely return! Back again, June 15 th 2025 5:30 ish. First of all, I recommend making a reservation. They have a lovely patio but limited seating so make a reservation if you want to sit outside the service once again was quick and efficient and in no time we had our Pecora appetizers that were delicious with the chutney.. for our mains we chose a prawn birani and the most delicious mango chicken dish. We ordered an extra dish of rice, which gave us plenty of rice because the Birani had rice which was lovely and fluffy. We ordered the garlic naan bread which came with three pieces of bread and all of it was delicious and we had leftovers to take home, which was even better the next day.. I recommend to go try it out soon if you are looking for hot fresh Indian food. It...
