MOD Pizza — Restaurant in Langford

I really wanted my pizza to be delicious. It was pizza #228, a take-out megacrust for Graham. I was there around 4:30 and ordered a pizza to go. Second time at MOD, last time was a few years ago. I watched the pizza cook make three regular pizzas before mine. Those three crusts, already prepared, looked dried out and had no stretch left when being prepped for sauce and toppings. So, hoping for something better, I asked for a "mega" crust. The first one taken off the stack of prepared crusts was rejected by another pizza cook who said it was too small, so my chap used the second one from the stack. It looked stale and dried out , and had no stretch. When I got home and opened the box, I had a good look at the bottom of the crust. Quite well done, but some creases were uncooked. I had a slice and discovered that if someone makes you a pizza with a stale, dried out and dead crust, you get a stale, dried out and dead pizza. And salty. What's with the salt? The crust was a failure. I fault the kitchen. It is obvious to me that a number of crusts had been prepared in advance, formed on their specialized machine, placed on perforated pizza pans, and left, uncovered in their warm kitchen, becoming the stale, dried out and dead things that were being served up. I watched a pizza cook prep a crust from scratch for an order placed a few minutes after mine. That crust had stretch. I gave my experience two stars in the hope management would read my review. To be fair, the toppings, cheese and sauce were okay. Overall? Unsatifsactory, probably...

Wow, what a great idea for a restaurant!

I had first heard of Mod through a podcast's lengthy discussion of the best pizza places, and after hearing such devout praise I knew I had to visit sometime. I only just had the pleasure for the first time recently, and I can't recommend them enough!

The restaurant itself isn't a place you want to leave as soon as you get your order. Mod Pizza is comfy, relaxing and feels like a place you want to take your friends. Their selection of beverages, sides and accompaniments is very nice, but the real jewel is the pizza itself, which is always the deciding factor.

Mod delivers on so many levels. The thin crust is perfectly balanced, and has a nice crisp on the edges. Not doughy or spongy even a little. Their selection of sauces and toppings all knock it out of the park, and for a price you seriously cannot beat. I recently ordered two pizzas, complete with drinks, loaded them up with our favorite toppings, and it came to less than our usual order by nearly fifteen dollars! A delicious pizza, that always tastes like it had the effort put in, which you can see for yourself as its made. Having so much control over your order is the perfect method.

I don't live too close to the location, sadly, but whenever I'm in Langford I make a deliberate effort to visit Mod, and I urge everybody to give it a shot. Much love...

I really love the pizza from Mod—it’s always fresh and delicious! However, the service has been consistently disappointing. As someone with a disability, I rely on the convenience of ordering pick-up through their website. Unfortunately, this process often feels anything but convenient.

No matter if the restaurant is busy or not, I frequently have to wait well beyond the pick-up time provided when I placed my order. Even if I arrive late, my order is still not ready, and when I inquire about the wait, I usually get a vague response like, "When it’s done, we have your order and will make it soon."

I understand that restaurants get busy, but this lack of organization and communication makes the experience frustrating and inconvenient, especially for customers who rely on timely service.

Interestingly on their website always says complete on time. Today was 45 minutes passed pickup time. Our order was not even started until I spoke to the manager. Although I did receive a refund for my pizza, Mod needs to do better!

I hope Mod takes steps to improve their order fulfillment process because the quality of their pizza deserves better...
