Cafe Milano Laval — Restaurant in Laval (administrative region)

Let me start by saying I am going back - it is nice to finally see something Italian in Laval that is successful - this is for future customers -Go! It's the most lively place in Laval after 9pm, Monday - Wednesday east of Chomedey Blvd. The food is good and the service is prompt, actually it does not get faster. The atmosphere is nice. Everyone seems positive and working as a team. Just Go! Its worth it , Breakfast, Lunch or Supper.Go!

Now for the restaurant owners - Its not like it is or was in the original place. The sandwiches although good - can't be served with 2 inches thick of lettuce and tomato and a piece of steak the thickness of an unfolded slice of Mortadela in an overly puffy panini. The chicken sandwich was a little more generous. But the Milano's special taste is just not there - the bread is also different. Because for 12 bucks I can get a smoked meat sandwich or a fully loaded 10 inch sub with fries at Mirage New York. So basically load up the sandwich and the taste. Salads to be tested next time. Dont get me wrong- I am comparing with the original. I started going there when the grill was facing you when you walked in - one local and a second door on the side with maybe 6 little tables. The sandwich was so good it used to make you want another one. That's what is missing, like when you went to the Original Dic Anns - you had one cheese burger- it was so good - you just had to have another. These guys used to bring in one of the old cooks to train the new employees at each new location.

Now the coffee and the Cannoli both good - the Cannoli fill on the spot service is un-matchable. But -lol - as I was eating one and enjoying the fresh cream - looking at the casing, it brought a tear to my eye as I started analyzing it. It reminded my of my nonna's home made taralles - fix it - please. It should not look like that - you know what I mean.

Next: credit cards - I know cash is king - cash is also inconvenient. If you allow Uber Eats in your place and they take 26% when its all over - then the argument is moot -please bring in the credit cards. You would not want customers ordering from Uber Eats from your parking lot just to pay by credit card cause they have no cash - Right? Imagine that!

Went for lunch today, ordering process took a while, I guess it was noisy. I was with 2 friends, we ordered our sandwiches, fries and they ordered coffee and desserts. We sat outside in the terrace. Within 5 minutes my friends' coffee and desserts arrived, odd? Within 15 minutes our sandwiches and drinks arrived, but no fries - we mentioned it to the server who said "no problem, coming soon" . We waited close to 20 minutes and asked another server for the fries (our sandwiches were eaten), server went inside, then back to us and said we didn't pay for them, but they will be out soon and we would need to pay inside. We waited another 15 minutes and my friend went inside to ask why we were waiting - seems my friend had to pay before being served the fries. Bottom line, the food was very good, service was friendly, but they seem to be a little dis-organized - Our 30 minute lunch break turned into over an hour. BTW, we arrived near 1:30 PM. Café Milano gets it, and they have created the bread that breaks softly, and changes everything! Their submarine-style bun is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, it’s light, slightly crisp, and actually breaks softly when you bite into it every time! It transforms the whole sandwich eating experience into something unique and enjoyable! I was sitting here, enjoying my sandwich, and I had to share this insight because it truly changes everything when you don’t have to struggle biting into bread and instead you enjoy every bite luxuriously and effortlessly!
