My wife received a gift card for this place some time ago. We were finally in the area and wanted to give it a shot since we both love Mexican food. Walking in, you'll quickly notice how uniquely decorated this place is. The art, the murals, the door wall, the light fixtures - it's funky. We were greeted and seated fairly quickly. Guy gave us menus and came back shortly after. While we're ordering, we asked what they recommend for kids. Waiter goes "you want a kids menu?". Brother, we came in with a kid. You sat us down. Yes we want a kids menu. Entree and my son's meal came fairly quickly. The chimichangas were good. Nothing we'd crave again but we didn't regret ordering the. My son's French fries were good. His chicken seemed overcooked, which is apparently common based on other reviews. Over an hour later, our main finally comes. I need to add that we were one of maybe 10 tables right now. No where near peak traffic. I had the Mexican flag enchiladas. The rice was good. The enchiladas were hit and miss. Steak was dry and chewy. Spinach was really just goopy, but quite good overall. Chicken was good, as well. My wife ordered the burrito. That thing was massive. She didn't finish it but enjoyed it. I also liked her chicken burrito more than my dish. Food was 4/5 overall. Hostess came, we gave him our $50 gift card, he came back with an $80 bill and said "thanks for coming" and left. Made no sense. Seconds later, the waiter runs out the kitchen to get us to pay the balance. His machine bugged out and skipped the tip portion. All I had on me was $5 cash. So that's what he got. Guy made no eye contact and gave me a dry thank you. All in all, service could definitely be improved and the food was a solid "Okay". Probably won't be back without...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I come to this location frequently and we enjoy the food and service very much. However, tonight we had a reservation and were told we had to be seated outside to which I agreed, as I had no choice. Once arrived and seated, we asked if we could switch tables as the table we had was outside their fence, on the side walk, and they advised us we weren't allowed. Once we sat we saw after that a couple that was sitting not far from us moved to the tables inside the fence. Few minutes later, two other couples came and were sat outside as well... We didn't say anything about it, but we were a little annoyed at that since they refused us from sitting there. While we had our drinks and were Waring for our food, there were so many wasps flying in and out of our food, it was really uncomfortable, I do understand it's not something they can control but we really just wanted to sit away from them. When we asked the same hostess (who looks like she has no idea what she's doing) she once again refused us from sitting anywhere else even though there were few tables available. I spoke in English and she answered back in French, and when I asked her why other couples got priority to sit at the other tables even though we had reservations, she all of à sudden didn't understand, so I spoke in French, and she still said she couldn't understand. I just let it go because it wasn't worth the effort and she was acting annoyed. We asked to speak to manager and she refused that as well. Our waitress however was lovely. It's a shame we won't be coming here again but as someone that also works as management in the restaurant business, we were very disappointed with how they handled the situation and they will lose a good...
Read moreWalked into an empty restaurant, with the manager sitting at a table eating, with employees’ personal items (bags, jackets) scattered around him. Another employee was seated at the bar possibly waiting for his shift to start, eating straight out of a Tim Horton’s box. We received warm and friendly service from our waitress but it was hard to get anyone’s attention as staff was busy cleaning the restaurant or eating and no one was tending to us (we were well within opening hours). When we finally flagged down the manager, he reluctantly took our order and quickly left. After 35 minutes went by, a waitress came over to announce (not apologize) that the manager had forgotten to punch in our order and ask certain questions that were going to determine how the dish would be prepared (wings spicy or not, etc.) After that, he avoided us and went back to doing whatever, never came to see us and acknowledge his mistake. The rest of the staff started arriving and would huddle close to our table and loudly talk about personal business and make comments to our waitress as she was serving us. They were so close to us we thought it was a joke, the rest of the restaurant was completely empty and it made us feel like we were crashing a staff meeting... The mojito they served us was a sludgy mess of blackened mint leaves and old, brown limes. The whole experience was just unprofessional, no love whatsoever was put into the service nor the food or the drinks and we felt like the staff lacked proper guidance and leadership. When we left we made eye contact with the manager, received no “goodbye, thank you, have a nice...
