I did my husband’s 50th birthday party at Sukho Thai in their VIP private room and what a great place to have a party! The room layout was great with a dining area for 20 people on one side and a lounge area on the other side equipped with a grand piano nestled in the corner and a faux waterfall wall as a backdrop. I dealt with Kim to plan the entire event who offered me various add-on options for entertainment at very reasonable prices (piano, photo booth, etc). I chose to hire Nicolas, the pianist she recommended. He was great, playing various genres of songs that we chose in advance. I hired him for 2hrs but everyone enjoyed the background music so much so I asked him to stay longer. Sam was our server for the night and he did an awesome job! I was concerned at first that there was only 1 server for 20 people, but Kim assured me they were experienced with these type of events and she was right! The serving of the food was very well timed, no long delays between them and everything was delicious! We started with the tapas which were passed around as our guests mingled, and a few of them had a classy presentation (salmon tartar in a crunchy cone and peanut dumplings in individual saucers). All the main courses were mouth watering. My favorites were their specialty filet mignon marinated in lemongrass and tasty blend of spices and their pad Thai. My guests were impressed, giving me many compliments. Sam followed up with me regularly to ensure everything was to my liking. An additional bonus I should mention is that their à la carte wine and alcohol menu had very reasonable prices, and some very original in-house cocktails! . Now, if this review was nothing but positive, someone may not believe it to be an honest review, so I’ll mention two minor issues: Our wonton soup was delivered to the room while Sam was still serving the last of our tapas but he noticed this and was quick to send it back to the kitchen to ensure that our soup was served hot. We were then served edamame that I ordered as an extra and these were cold (probably prepared too early in advance like the soup), but this was really no big deal because as a vegetable appetizer hot or cold it’s good anyway. We had no issues with the main courses, all served hot, and each time we tasted one, we couldn’t wait to taste what was coming next. All their private rooms come set up for Karaoke and although I did not think we would use this, my husband decided to get our guests warmed up with his rendition of “So hot to handle” and then the singing broke out and the party went on for another 2hrs!! Everyone had a blast!! Kim even followed up with us the next day to get our feedback! I’m already planning my next party at Sukho Thai !! Thank you Kim, Sam and Nicolas for making tkt husbands 50th party such a...
Read moreWe rushed start to finish during our stay. Me and the owner made a deal that we can have the private room till midnight if we buy 2 bottles (which was 120$/bottle. Not bad comparing in other places) At the end we spent just in alcohol 800$ (not even the food included) which is 4 time what they asked and felt rushed to finish our drink fast and go home. Had a few problem with the service and when asked to speak to the manager they just left. For the staff to rush us, when we asked for some drink we wanted 45 minutes and when asked where's our drink she never places the order so we needed to wait again even tho we needed to be out for midnight. Due to the slow services we never opened one of the bottle. I ask the server if they can just take it out of the bill since we didn't touch it and we spent more than what we agreed. The owner didn't want to she kept saying that it was part of the deal which I kept telling her we spent MORE THEN WHAT WAS THE DEAL they should not have any problem at this point. She didn't want to hear anything at all and kept on repeating no 2 bottles.... At the service we where 17 and the group menu is 50$/personnes. But every service they where food missing for 2-3 personnes! At the end for the Paiment HORRIBLE!! THEY WHERE ALL CONFUSED !!! Some people paid and said they didn't see them paying but we had 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLES MINDING OUR BILLS AND NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THEM! The main serveur was not there for the paiement. I heard she was drunk at the end of the night and left home early. We ended up paying more cause they where PERSUADED that some people didn't pay. And then to pay it was a maze!! One telling us to go down, an other one saying no we need to pay upstairs and an other one saying we need to go down, go OUTSIDE to enter the other entre of the restaurant to pay and it was freezing cold!! Communication and services zero. Even the owner looks lost and keep changing version when there's a problem to ended up leaving for home and leaving behind confusing staff.
Even tho my husband did gave them 400$ tips wich one kind employe under Sam names kept insisted that he shouldn't tips them as much since we didn't have a good experience but at the end we just wanted to finish on a good note and just leave everything behind.
Was the concept good? Yes Good experience? Not at all Should I go back? Maybe but just to eat a regular menu. No more private room and enormous bill for the poor service we...

The Service: After sitting for about 20 minutes, we were able to get the attention of our waiter for some menus & water. That kind of delay is more than fine if the place is busy, but it was not. It was 2 hours from closing, the place was completely dead and we were actually the last table of the night. If you want to recreate the vibe in your mind, think of the scene in the Godfather where Michael shoots Sollozzo and McClusky in the empty restaurant, just add some kitschy decorations and some yuppie-friendly, royalty-free dance music. We ordered around 8:30 PM, our waiter asked what we wanted with so much boredom in his voice, not quite with contempt, but in such a way that made it clear that we were his lowest priority and highest source of inconvenience. Guy ignores us completely for a half hour but yes, we're the problem. This happened to be the last time any of us had a full water glass. Our waiter wasn’t seen again until 9:22 PM (52 minutes later) when the food comes out, after which he disappeared again to serve the zero other tables he had. Finally, around 9:58PM, with bone-dry water glasses on our table, we ask a random person for the bill. This random person was nice, not sure what her job was but she actually had a personality and was pleasant to us. It was extremely refreshing to talk to someone who was not a dead-eyed misanthrope. Our shaggy-haired dude comes back and is somehow surprised at how low we're tipping, sarcastically wishing us a nice evening, completely oblivious to how bad he was at his job tonight. What do I usually tip? My entire life I've tipped 20%, 25%, 30% depending on how it goes, but tonight was the first time I ever tipped 0%. This guy was salty, surly, did the absolute minimum for us and did it poorly. If anything I should have tipped the friend I was with for getting the menus and single glass of water accomplished. For the absolute minimum I can't help but tip the absolute minimum.
The Food: Easy to do at home, just order Thai Express, dump it on a plate and burn a ten-dollar bill. Portions were almost abnormally large, possibly to make up for the food being...
