We first visited Rosso Cielo in mid April for lunch. We were warmly welcomed by gracious staff. Seated by the windows of their gorgeous dining room. The cocktails were very well made! The menu offered many options from appetizers, including the most fantastic Mozzarella di Bufala from a local Quebec producer. The gnocchi were some of the best I’ve had in a restaurant. We also enjoyed the pizza with a crispy crust and very cheesy, well seasoned calamari, etc!
Our second visit took place during the grand opening in June, which truly highlighted the very best of the restaurant. Showcasing the back terrace and rooftop cocktail lounge! The signature cocktails and canapés were abundant! We stayed for supper to try more of the menu items and they were one better than the other. Arancini, sliders, thick cut fries, bresaola focaccia and pasta Bolognese.
This inspired my cousin to book her wedding reception at Rosso Cielo which was celebrated this past weekend. What a treat! 115 guests seated on the elegantly decorated terrace. The food and service were wonderful! A variety of canapés, a grazing table featuring so many different bites! An exceptionally curated menu of grilled octopus, fresh tomato sauce pasta with stracciatella. Fillet mignon and lobster tail surf & turf. The midnight sweet table complete with fresh pizza, arancini, ricotta stuffed fritters, Nutella bomboloni and a chocolate fountain!
Sunday, we returned for a brunch on the terrace. We were served a selection of eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, pancakes and waffles! Fresh orange juice, viennoiseries and fruit!
We then spent the afternoon on the rooftop enjoying cocktails and the incredible views.
I could go on and on!
A huge thank you to the exceptional staff, that made an effort accommodate our every need.
Looking forward to our next visit, as Rosso Cielo has become a...
Read moreWe were a little group of 3 girls, we sat on the terrace. The terrace was really nice and it is covered so you can sit outside even if it's raining. However, the service was horrible. If I could I would give it a 0 star. We were there at around 9 pm. The drinks we ordered took around 20 min for a glass of wine and 30 min for a dirty martini, each came at different times. The calamari appetizer arrived after that and it was cold. The manager was apologizing because they had a mess up with the tables but we never left or moved our table so I don't know why it would affect us. He did give us a second plate of hot calamari which does not seem like a compensation. The bare minimum is to give me what I ordered hot. He did say he was going to provide a digestive at the end to compensate but he never came to do that and we never got them. In addition, at the time we were there, it wasn't really packed, there were many empty tables and people were already eating so really not understandable why it would take so long. The main course came at around 10:30. It was ridiculous to wait all that time for food that was really average, nothing special. We ordered a Ceasar salad with chicken and a mushroom pizza. We wouldn't be going back that's for sure. I'm surprised a restaurant at the Marriott is actually so bad. Not worth the detour!
I do have to mention how in comparison the Terrace Cielo on the 10th floor is amazing! The staff and manager are very friendly, they go out of their way to accommodate you. We were there for a drink before, their drinks are delicious and the ambiance and views are very nice. They even had a DJ. The only negative point is it is not a covered terrace so when it started raining, we left. That's when we went down to the...
Read moreI think the owners of Rosso Cielo have taken previous feedback into account and made improvements over time. Our experience was far from the negative reviews we had read. We made reservations in advance for dinner on a Saturday night, but finding street parking was a challenge—likely due to the restaurant's location near Place Bell. Fortunately, the hotel offers free underground parking for up to three hours, but you will need to have your parking ticket validated by the hostess at the restaurant.
Overall, the food and service were good! Although it was very busy the staff remained attentive, courteous, and never made us feel neglected. We ordered a mix of meatballs, pasta, a meat platter, and pizza. The fries were yummy-we ordered extra!! The pizza was our least favorite - it could definitely use some reworking - the other dishes were good. The tiramisu was delicious, though the cannoli didn’t quite meet expectations. It arrived cold, and the lemon ricotta filling was runny.
The restaurant has a nice vibe, with enjoyable background music and a well-designed interior. The only downside, which isn’t the restaurant's fault, was the noise level - acoustics. On a busy Saturday night, combined with the music, we found ourselves having to speak loudly or yell to hear each other. In general, we had a pleasant time and will...
