I ordered 8 times from place Laval on ubereat and the bowl wasn’t up to spicebro standards twice. I ate at most of their locations and I would definitely recommend. I always get the same bowl but the quality and the taste was inconsistent at the place Laval location. The first time it happened I brushed it off and let it go because mistakes happens and I know that it’s a good chain. The second time it happened I kept the bowl nearly untouched until the next day because it was already closed by the time I got my bowl delivered. I called in multiple times the next morning to make sure it was open and nobody answered. I then decided to go with the bowl and receipt and ask for a compensation (never a refund) which Ubereat wouldn’t help me with.
I was welcomed by the women co owner. She was redirecting the blame on me. She didn’t give a chance to explain everything. For every comment I would make she had an answer. She asked me why didn’t I came yesterday? Why didn’t I call in the morning? We usually give 5-4 pieces of fish and there’s only 3 left? All things that if she would’ve let the client talk until they’re finished she would’ve understood. She was very defensive about the situation.
The second co owner who joined the conversation after was more comprehensive. His listening skills were more involved, trying to come to a compromise rather than redirecting the responsibility. Although having 2 people questioning the client at the same time isn’t a good look as it gives the impression that you mistrust each other’s judgment in taking care of something as small as a complaint.
Apart from the blaming, her main argument was that they’ve never gotten any complaint. Therefore I am to reconsider my opinion. Also she made it feel like I was trying get something for free as if I didn’t pay to get what I was supposed to get.
The worst part is that from the beginning of the conversation I was told: I am not giving you a refund, I will give you the pieces of fish if you want. Very bad handling of the situation, no apologies, nothing but blame and shaming the client for their judgment. This is the correct way you could’ve handled it: we unfortunately can’t process refunds but we can still do our best to satisfy you. We can offer you anything of the same value ( or half the value if budget is tight ) from our menu, may I suggest… (emphasis on the word offering and not giving. We offer gifts, apologies etc and it is charity that is given. )
I never blamed them for anything. The fish didn’t seem to be of the last batch. Something about it was making the entire bowl taste weird. That could’ve been caused by many things that are out the control of the restaurant and it’s staff. But as someone who is trying to sell food, it is part of the job to be able to provide a standard and a consistency of quality in order to have client retention.
Try the other locations, they’re worth the drive.
As accepted in her funny answer. 0 ownership, 0 apology,...
Read moreSuper kind people. I called another place too late for my birthday, but Spicebros were still opened and kindly delivered. I can't handle spicy, but I loved it anyway. The poulet au beurre was good. I went to the restaurant, they're extremely kind people who feel utmost care for their customer and the quality of their food. The manager herself was my cashier. I have a medical condition making me unable to wear masks, and some people kick me out, but she welcomed me warmly, it made no difference for her. All she cared about was making sure I'm nourished, I was kicked out by another pharmacist who cared more about the fine than keeping people safe... so it warmed my heart, and stomach, to be served with so much respect.
The potatoes were the tastiest I ever had. I don't understand their complex recipe, marinated? Isn't that just for meat? With potatoes it's amazing, and the added herbs added great taste and rich color. Best potatoes I ever had. I took the spicy mayo with them.
The chicken wrap was awesome. Huge! I couldn't finish their generous portion but I will at home. I could force myself but I want to enjoy it again tonight and savor it slowly.
I wanted to have an entree of spinach to taste that option. They gave it to me, for free, and were generous about the quantity. It tastes amazing. I might try it next time, or another of their many flavors I haven't seen in my usual places.
The cook was genuinely moved when I complimented his food. With a level of care and sincerity that I rarely see. For desert I ate his balls, delicious desert. They gave me a easter chocolate for free.
The ambiance is warm and relaxing. There is a funny painting on the wall of their culture mixed with ours and animals. It's super festive, I love it. On the opposite walls they honore hockey, our national sport. I wish everyone knew unity and inclusivity that well, they just do it instinctively because that's who they are.
The restaurant seems popular, I had to wait to take the picture because someone was in it. And their popular soup was sold out. I wanted to wait for it, thinking they just defrost stuff like the american standard. But it's soup that takes 3h to make with love. I must return for it, even though it's a detour. I'm glad the constructions forced me to use a different street so I could see their restaurant, and that my usual places for closed for my birthday, so I could discover them. It's not my usual type of food, I'm into sushi, but they have their own version of poke bowl. Very healthy, very amazing. I'm warming up to the space taste, literally and...
Read moreSo I visit this place , food was good , customer service was also nice but the only things I don’t like is that there is only one employee most of the time when I visit . She had so many people to serve so it takes like 15/20 minutes for me to give order and 10 minutes after that to wait . Meanwhile in that time , some people also left after waiting for so long or seeing the line and one person serving them . I don’t know why employer of this place do like this because it’s my third fourth time but I find only one girl there handling everything by herself. I really feel really bad for that girl , as I student we have no choice and have to work but there are some people taking advantage of our problem and exploit the worker by putting so many responsibilities on just one person. If that employee do something wrong task then they quickly have the camera recording to show employees but why can’t u see how busy it is and difficult for one person to handle all things , can’t u see these from your cameras . Any how , if there is someone who want to improve from this review he / she will surely take action and that would really be appreciated. But if not that’s fine , then sit at home and shut the restaurant off rather than replying on the review of someone that if u don’t want to wait then u should leave . I really don’t think so that u deserve position of the Owner or a manager if u don’t know how to talk with your customer. Just go and check your stupid cameras that if someone really wait for 40 minutes or not before giving people reply back. Thanks to that girl who give me food, she was really nice but this place don’t deserve such hard work , where your efforts are not...
