It's hip to be slow.... Found 380T from a quick search on t1 for something close to the Hilton in Laval where we were staying on a Saturday night. Got 8:15pm reservations for 2 just a half hour before, parked in the full lot and walked into a lively resaurant with a nice open kitchen, large bar area and a dj spinning some nice house tunes - SCORE! Now I understand that service on a Saturday night with a full crowd may be a little extended, but don't get your hopes up here....Sit back and hopefully you'll get served a drink to soak in the otherwise club like ambiance. The hostess sat us right down to a table in the corner that had just been bussed. Five minutes later the bus girl threw a tablecloth on and set the table and gave us menus. No water.. The server, a rushed older man, finally stopped by and I ordered a bottle of Columbia Crest Cab and Pellegrino for the two of us. Fifteen minutes later he shows up with the water and asked what wine I ordered! Oh boy this could take a while!! With wine pored I stopped the waiter from running off so we could place an order for food, because by now we are nearing 9pm... He didn't offer any info about the menu, so I asked if there were any specials and he said that they were a steak house so that is their special.. OK so my wife orders the veal marcella and I ask for the salmon over risotto and off he went never to be seen again for an hour, but hey all is good because we finally have wine and water, so what else do you need but maybe some bread which is never offered... Another server finally shows and presented us with what we have been craving for an hour and a half - FOOD!!! I don't know if it was the wait or if the chef is that good, but our plates were excellent and we almost ate those too! One thing missing was any sort of vegetable, something our server should have suggested when we ordered as all veggies are alacarte. Go figure... We ran out of wine and water never to be offered again... By 11 I asked for a grappa and we moved tables close to the dj who was keeping the crowd entertained while we all craved for food and something to drink. Not bad for $150 and a fun...
Read moreWe came here for Mother’s Day, and while the service was excellent, the overall dining experience didn’t quite match the level of other top steakhouses in Montreal.
Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the different steak cuts and even plated the food for us when it arrived, which added a nice touch.
To start, we ordered the crab cake, lobster dumplings, Cesar salad and huîtres Rockefeller. The crab cake was unfortunately too salty, and while the other appetizers were fine, none were particularly memorable.
For mains, we had the 32 oz Kansas and 12 oz New York steaks. Both were fine but lacked the depth of flavor and tenderness you’d expect at this price point. The sides included sweet potatoes, lobster mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and mushrooms. They were rich and comforting, but nothing stood out.
The sauces (réduction de veau au porto and béarnaise à la truffe) were flavorful but didn’t elevate the steaks as much as we’d hoped.
Before dessert, our tablecloth had been stained with sauce from our plates, and the waiter kindly covered it with clean cloths, which was a thoughtful gesture. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake, “apple of my pie,” and the T360 cookie. They were good overall, though nothing we’d go back for. The chocolate cake, in particular, was disappointing. It was mushy and far from decadent.
The bill came to around $600, which felt steep for food that didn’t quite deliver. It was a pleasant evening with attentive service, but the food didn’t quite meet expectations for a...
Read moreOur table for eight (8) was ready when we arrived for our reservation. Menu’s were provided promptly, our water glasses were immediately filled and our waiter took the drink orders for those of us who wanted them while reviewing the extensive menu. After informing us of the daily specials not on the menu, our waiter took the time necessary to explain all the different steak options we could enjoy for those of us who wanted to share. The appetizers arrived promptly which was appreciated. Their Octopus was superb as were the huge shrimps we ordered to share. Then we had a good 45 minute wait before our main courses arrived which we felt was rather long. Our friends who ordered the Surf & Turf said their food was great as was my veal chop. Our wives who ordered the Tomahawk Cut of steak were really disappointed that although it was cooked properly to medium rare, the meat was tough and very “Chewy”. Unfortunately they were hungry and did not call the waiter back to object to and advise their disappointment and several pieces were left over and were not taken home. So half the table enjoyed the meal while the other half did not. We may try the restaurant again as it is bright, airy, has attentive staff and overall the food was good… but we did expect better from a High...
