I had a deeply disappointing experience during my first in-store visit to the Starbucks at 63 Robie Street on May 10, 2025. As someone who frequently uses the drive-thru at this location multiple times a week, I expected the same quick, fun, vibrant, and friendly service that I’ve grown accustomed to. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite and left me questioning my loyalty to this store.
After I placed my order for my Pink Drink, the service was incredibly slow. It took about 10 minutes to prepare, which felt excessive for a relatively simple order. While waiting, I couldn’t help but notice the atmosphere in the store. A male employee with dark hair, who appeared to be working the drive-thru, spent most of the time glaring and making negative faces at both his colleagues and customers. His demeanor created a tense and unwelcoming environment that was hard to ignore.
When my drink was finally ready, the employee who completed my order, a girl with red hair named Brailyn, was incredibly rude. She dropped my drink on the counter without a word, gave me an annoyed look, and simply walked away. There was no acknowledgment, no “here you go,” and certainly no warmth or friendliness. I noticed she treated the next customer in a similar manner, which made it clear this wasn’t a one-off interaction but a pattern of poor customer service.
The drink itself, was fine, but the overall experience overshadowed any enjoyment I might have had. This was by far my worst visit to this Starbucks location. The lack of professionalism, the unfriendly staff, and the slow service made me feel unvalued as a customer. I’m now reconsidering whether I’ll continue to visit this store, even for my usual drive-thru orders. Starbucks is known for its welcoming vibe, but this visit fell far short of that standard. I hope the management addresses these issues because, as it stands, I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone based on...
Read moreHow did I get "captured" here? - I was only in for a minute! Well, it's shiny and clean and open - I reveled in the atmosphere I remember - all the good times I've had at Starbucks over many years, oh where have the years gone!... And the staff were nice, and helpful. So - since it's the first actual Starbucks in Truro! - (only about 30 years late - and my brother-in-law and his brother, with my assistance on the ground, tried from the beginning to get a franchise,) I haven't been in one for at least 10 years (since I came back to Truro) I got the shock of my life at the price of a package of coffee - I believe they said $18.98? I thought it was expensive 30 years ago, at maybe $7 or $8 a pound. Truly, the end of the world must be nigh. One nice barista helped me fix my face mask, and I didn't even buy any coffee - I didn't have that much cash! Oh, the times, they are...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with this Starbucks location. Over the past two months, since the new manager arrived, product availability and customer service have worsened. It’s common to find mobile orders disabled, or be unable to order drinks like the Pink Drink due to missing ingredients—including no strawberries for weeks. Wait times have increased because of understaffing, and the manager keeps blaming employees instead of leading effectively. Most concerning, I’ve seen staff handle cash and then food without washing hands or wearing gloves, and milk left out for hours. Right now, the store is operating without a health permit according to the Nova Scotia Food Inspection Agency. Starbucks needs to address these issues...
