A Frustrating Visit to Wendy's Truro
My recent drive-thru experience at the Wendy's in Truro, Nova Scotia, was exceptionally disappointing, marked by a series of compounding issues from start to finish.
We arrived at approximately 3 PM on a Wednesday and initially experienced no wait, driving straight up to place our order. However, midway through, the staff member abruptly asked us to hold for a minute, resulting in an unusually long delay before they returned. We then meticulously placed our order for two combo meals: a Dave's Double with no tomato and a chicken sandwich with extra mayo, requesting chili as the side for one of the combos.
Upon reaching the window, we received our drinks, and I tapped my card to pay. The machine clearly made the sound of a successful transaction. To my surprise, when I asked for a receipt, the staff member stated the transaction hadn't gone through and insisted we pay again. Believing this, we proceeded to pay a second time.
Immediately checking our bank account, we discovered two charges: one for $14.57(the incorrect amount) and another for $28.82 (the correct total). Realizing the error, we informed the staff, who then handed us the $14.55 amount in cash. We explicitly requested the funds be credited back to our debit card, as that was our original payment method, but were told they could only give us cash. This resulted in Wendy’s receiving .02 cents for their error.
Frustrated, we pulled over and went inside to speak with the manager directly about correctly crediting our account. To our dismay, the manager reiterated that it was not possible and coldly advised us to complain to head office if we wanted a resolution. There was no apology offered, nor any form of compensation for the inconvenience and repeated issues.
Finally, we left and checked our meals, only to find yet another error: the chicken sandwich, which we had specifically ordered with extra mayo had been prepared with only mayo. This prompted another return to the restaurant to speak with the manager. Their solution was to offer to correct the now cold sandwich. When we inquired if a new, fresh sandwich would be more appropriate given the circumstances, it was clear our concerns were not being adequately addressed. Additionally, this resulted in us not enjoying our meal together and the first sandwich was also cold by the time the second sandwich was corrected.
The overall experience was a series of unfortunate events, from the ordering delay and payment mix-up to the unhelpful management and incorrect food preparation.
This was an overall very bad experience as we have been Wendy's customers for a very long time and have never had such inadequate service and follow-up from the manager of staff. In future, we will reconsider going to...

Read moreNow, I love Wendy's, it is my go-to place, best darn burgers around in the fast food world. I went in to order, the cashier had no idea how to scan and use my Wendy's app offer, I finally told her to give up, seriously no clue. It took what seemed to be double the amount of time to take my order, everything caught and took her attention away from getting my order. Finally got my order, drove to where I was staying only to find out both the burgers I ordered were made completely wrong. Wanted one only mayo, I got honey mustard lettuce and tomato... Yes you can take off, and waste the lettuce and tomato... But the honey mustard does not magically turn to mayo. The other I ordered only ketchup, mayo, onion, got the works, nothing like a pickle hater having to discard half a burger because the pickle taste stays even when you take the pickles off... That yucky pickle juice 😝
This will be my final visit to this location, this is not the first time I have had issues. Instead of the inside Reno, maybe some investment...
