Hansel and Gretel Bakery — Restaurant in Maple Ridge

I picked up a cake a week ago for a birthday celebration. I was thoroughly disappointed with my overall experience. On the initial call the week prior I had ordered a strawberry and lemon inspired cake for 10-15 people. When I arrived on the saturday to pick it up I had to wait as it was clearly not ready. 15 minutes or so later when I finally got the cake to my surprise it was completely coated in almonds. Not once in their initial call did they mention almond coating on strawberry shortcake which should be an obvious comment or question considering allergies. Everyone was shocked that a strawberry shortcake was encrusted in nuts. Next the cake itself was put directly in the fridge and immediately (while it was still sealed in its box) I could see the cake was falling apart at the seams. By the time of the event in the evening the filling was spilling out of the sides and sliding over to the side despite staying in the fridge the entire time. Then when the taste itself was incredibly underwhelming and the cake was left a majority uneaten. It was simply not good. We had such high hopes for this bakery as I have picked up a few baked goods previously from them. Everyone at the party was shocked because of how poor the cake was and they all had heard of this local bakery. I am mostly communicated with Trea, And have nothing but positive things to say about her. I was a bit scattered with what I wanted from the cake, but she was able to organize everything and pick up on what I needed perfectly. From my very early conversations with her, she made the process so easy that I knew I didn’t have to worry about the cake at all. Hansel and Gretel also don’t try to upsell you- They let me know that I did not need to get a cake that was enough for all of my guests as there was likely going to be enough dessert. I really appreciate that. The artwork on the cake and the way set up the florals was absolutely stunning. They were able to stick to the theme very well, even though I described it to them In the beginning of my wedding planning before the theme was fully finalized.

Most importantly, I’m not really a cake person, but When I finally had a chance to enjoy the cake, I didn’t want to stop. It was so good!

I asked around which bakery in Maple Ridge was really good. Hansel & Gretel bakery was recommended to me and I have bought a few different things from them that have always gone over well with people.

Yesterday, I bought a dozen assorted muffins to bring to a dog agility fun match, for snacks for the people. Once one person tried them, they all disappeared really quickly with rave reviews. People kept asking where I bought the muffins, saying they were awesome! I cannot eat wheat to try the bakery goods myself to test them out, so I was really pleased that I was able to find and bring quality goodies that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

I also bought Christmas decorated cookies from Hansel & Gretel Bakery to bring to my vet office yesterday. They seemed to be a huge hit too.

Hansel & Gretel Bakery has never let me down. Everything there seems to be excellent and they have a steady stream of customers that obviously feel the same way I do. Service is excellent too. They have become my go-to place for all things bakery related.
