Went for lunch/dinner here after going kayaking with some friends. We took them here because my husband had been here a few times and absolutely loves the corn bread. Unfortunately our experience did not reflect the review we gave our friends.
We contemptlated whether we would give the restaurant another chance, but decided that no we will not based on how many issues we had this time.
Here's why: when we entered we were told to take a seat anywhere by someone working at the bar, which we did. No one came over to say hello, give us menu's or waters. After about 10-15 minutes, and 3 attempts by my husband to get a waitresses attention (Im not sure her name, but she was blonde) I flagged down the person who told us to take a seat and asked if we could at least get some waters. He said no problem and finally our waitress showed up. She was nice enough, and apologized for not noticing our table, said she thought we'd been there awhile before she got there which leads me to believe their staff don't communicate with each other, since the blonde server knew we had been there awhile and ignored us.
She grabbed our drink orders. I got sangria. It was okay. After awhile she took our food orders, and my husband mentioned he hated mushrooms and asked if the soup that came with his order of the beef dip had mushrooms in it. She checked and said no it did not so he ordered the meal.
Nowhere on the menu did it mention that there were mushrooms on the beef dip sandwich. He had specifically said he hated mushrooms and they ADDED it to the sandwich. We had to have it returned and made new. The second time it came it was covered in almost raw peppers, which is also not listed on the menu.
At this point the rest of us had our food (which was good, hense 2 stars instead of 1) and my husband was hungry so he picked the peppers off and ate what he could. I said to the waitress that if there are going to be other things added to the food then they have to be listed. If this were an allergy situation vs a preference there could be some serious consequences.
So, we waited a long time to get served, a long time for orders (we never received the waters I initially asked for), his arrived incorrect twice, we also weren't really checked on much at all. Once maybe twice? We had been planning on ordering desserts but we decided to skip it and leave, instead ordering ourselves some snacks to go for later.
My husband ordered the cornbread (the whole reason we came tbh) and I ordered the Mac and cheese balls to go. Both orders had ingredients not specified on the menu.
The corn bread had peppers and jalapeno in it (which it didn't have before when we've had it) and the Mac and cheese balls were spicy from what tasted like jalapenos which, shocker, also isn't listed on the menu. It wasn't terrible but could finish them. If I had known they were spicy I would have ordered something else because I don't typically like spicy food.
All in all it was an incredibly disappointing experience. They also didn't offer to comp anything for our bad experience. Even just 1 beer being comped would have been nice. Also when we left no one said goodbye or anything.
We weren't belligerent and it was not busy. We were trying to be understanding, polite, saying please and thank you even though we were very frustrated. We normally tip 20% or more on food. We did not tip. Our usual.
So even though we know there are some things on the menu we really enjoy, we won't be coming back, and we definitely won't be recommending it to any more of our friends or family.
Whoever is in charge I recommend you take a hard look at how things are running. Maybe some retraining on front of house, and tell whoever is in the kitchen to stop getting creative on set menu items. Don't just change a menu item because you feel like it. People order specific food for a reason. If you want to get creative and try new things, make a special menu for it that you can change. I'm not going to order food at a restaurant if I can't trust that it's going to arrive the way I...
Read moreThe drag show event at the witch on Friday February 17th was an absolute mess. The tickets did not specify that we had to all buy our tickets under one card to guarantee a seat together. We got an email to confirm who was in our group and they still did not honor our group number when we arrived. They had a set menu that we couldn't order anything not on it including a high ball or a glass of wine. They were closed prior to starting to prep and they didn't even have soap and paper towels in the bathroom. I suggest never running an event through them again.
We ordered drinks soon after arriving and it took nearly an hour to get them. The event only staffed one bartender fully knowing it was a completely sold out show. When we finally got to order food, my deep fried pickles never ended up arriving and we still got charged for them.
When going to pay the bill nothing was seperated and two girls at our table kindly seperated it for our server as we could tell she was stressed and overwhelmed, but when she tried to seperate them on the computer, the system physically would not allow it making one girl in our group of 9 have to pay 350$. To make that matter worse apparently their computer system was having that same issue a week before and they had not fixed it in time for this event.
I feel so bad for the queens because the space didn't even work well for any sort of performances and they had to basically just walk around in between tables. The witch should not have sold so many tickets to pack the place so full, and not even properly staff for it.
I'm extremely disappointed in what I thought was going to be an amazing experience. And I hope that they work out the kinks before the next show they...
Read moreWe went here to celebrate my friends getting married next weekend We had a table of 8 The service was awful They definitely could have used 2 more waitresses working We were told we would have a 15% gratuity added to our bill which we were totslly fine with But we weren't waited on and the food was bad It's almost like she knew she was getting 15% tip so ahe didn't need to even try with our Party. But just because we are a bigger party doesn't mean you get to slack the waitress left our food sitting on the table for 20 mins after we were done eating and when my bf asked her to clean up the table she did it while shaking her head.. No one asked how our meals were. They forgot my cornbread I ordered My bfs and our friend got the shaved bbq beef sandwhich which was barely edible the meat was so fatty and you could bare bite thru it They charged me 2.00 for a slice of onion on my burger But I refused to pay this as the bacon they charged me was 1.50 and no one said it would be such an upcharge plus they forgot the lettuce and tomato on my burger so I had to ask for it Where on earth does a slice of onion cost more then 2 peices of bacon.... Another friends pizza wasn't cooked all the way There was half cooked bacon ontop and the dough was not cooked in the crust
And on another note What restaurant these days give you salt packs insteaD of a salt shaker ? Having 20 salt packs given to our table when we asked for salt was pretty funny You literally get these packs when you go to dairyqueen lol Super disappointed Won't...
