Buyer beware: Food is great typically. But service leaves much to be desired.
We had a mixup with a coupon that arrived in the mail, a few days after receiving it, we called to see if we could use it. I tried to ask questions about proper use of coupon over the phone before ordering but employee on phone got confused; was still well mannered and sweet. Totally not the issue. (my questions about coupon were just to see if it covered items we liked as the wording was ambiguous and I wanted to be sure we were ordering correctly)
Over all an awkward phone call, and I missed where she said that the coupon was for some reason not valid (despite lack of expiry on them and having recieved them in the mail only a couple days prior). So, not having heard her proper and thinking she was off asking another question for me? I waited, but we had errands so I just hung up and figured we'd stop by and pick up the food anyway.
Well, we arrived and there was over all confusion. I provided coupon and was told she told me on the phone it wouldn't be honoured. Which I was still confused about but figured staff would take the lead and tell me food was either ready and I could pay (foods good enough would've just paid for it haha) and I had no doubt she had told me. I'm a space case and try to be aware of it and I knew I had already been side railed due to her awkwardness and confusion on the phone. I'm positive she totally did tell me on the phone, I didn't even argue that just tried to express that I didn't hear her (though I don't think I expressed that clearly that's on me)
My partner and I just kinda stood there? No one took any initiative to like, help rectify the situation? Like, the whole thing was just a big ole batch of confusion.
I would've been happy to take the food, even if they didn't want to honour a coupon that completely lacked expiry and was told verbally it wouldn't be honoured because it was old and they weren't doing that anymore. We ended up leaving hungry and they ended up without my money, so neither side won here lol
So. Foods great, but the service is severely lacking and they acted like we wanted to swindle them for a deal on food when all we wanted was a nice meal for a treat since a coupon showed up; but they're locals and would have happily just paid for what we wanted anyway.
Probably won't return unless we order delivery via uber or skip because all that just is not worth the hassle for the confusion and then kind of felt like they assumed we were trying to cause trouble even though we were...
Read moreThis is the only place in Maple ridge where I always order food. But this time my experience was not very pleasant due to their customer service. There server Sukhdip went so rude over the phone. I called her about asking if you guys still have that take out 10% off. I wasn’t even finish talking and she literally hung on me. I called again about asking if there is any sauce (chutney) with samosa or fish pakora. Before I finished she again cut the call. Then my friend called her and asked about same thing, she got mad at him and so rudely hung up on his face. I have spent $77.65 (and always my every order is over $50 with great tip) on this order and this is what I’m getting??? Is this really acceptable?? SO DISAPPOINTED!! And never 👎🏼 ordering anything from this place again, never suggesting...
Read moreZaika has become our go-to hub for good Indian food in Maple Ridge outside home! My husband and I of recent have dropped in on this restaurant at least three times now for quick bites and have found both the food and the service to be delightful. We've also had take-outs but somehow the dining in experience far outweighs the take-outs. Their Zaika snack platter is a must try. As we both don't eat chicken ( Pescatarians), we asked for a modification to omit the chicken and include more of what we eat and they respectfully obliged. It was a good-sized portion too. The vegetable samosas, fish and vegetable pakoras were freshly made, crispy and yummilicious! All in all, great experience and good food. Zaika- keep this...
