Phở Phượng Hồng Vietnamese Restaurant — Restaurant in Maple Ridge

I placed a doordash order for pickup but when I got to the restaurant the cashier told me he had given my order to someone else. According to his words some guy walked in with a red doordash bag, asked for my order and he just handed it out without confirming my order number, which would be the proper way to do it. This has never happened to me before. I think the cashier was not paying attention and made a mistake. Only I don't understand why he assumed that a female customer would come pick up her order as a man with a red doordash bag. It wasnt a delivery order. Doordash customer service apologized for the inconvenience and refunded my money. However, I'm giving this restaurant 1 star because the gentleman at the restaurant never admitted that he made a mistake and gave my order to some random man off the street without following a proper procedure for pickup. Instead he tried to blame everyone else in this situation including doordash. The right thing to do would have been to simply acknowledge your mistake and replace my order. But he didn't even offer that. He just kept saying "there's nothing I can do about this". It's incredible how difficult it is for humans to simply admit...

Being out in Maple Ridge, this is a very welcoming and authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The owner of the restaurant treats you like a valued friend. Prices are also very reasonable as costs of food is rising everywhere. Very unusual for a Pho restaurant. Most are hurried and have no interest in their customers other than taking the order and giving the bill. This place is totally different and I suspect that it has been this way since the start. The Pho broth is very delicious and tasty. I did not use any sauces and ate the soup by itself without condiments. This is very rare for a Pho restaurant. I can tell that the broth has been properly simmered for over 10 hours (as traditional). I haven't tried any other mains as this one hits the spot. Shocked that this place is still in business. I haven’t been here in years but we thought we’d give it another try. There is only one person serving and I assume only one person working the kitchen. 30 minutes after placing an order, we still didn’t even have tea. Another group came in and weren’t even checked on or had their order taken for 20 minutes.

We ordered one bowl of pho, one rice dish, and one plate of chicken wings. During this 30 minutes, one table that arrived after us got their beverages and spring rolls, and another table behind us got one bowl of pho. We also saw at least 3 people pick up take out orders. The final straw was seeing a Skip driver come in to get an order. Clearly this establishment is prioritizing takeout and delivery orders over dine ins.
