This was our first time eating at The Keg. We were there with our family. The atmosphere of the place is very inviting. The dining area is loud because of all the people eating but the room itself is nice and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. My cousin and I ordered the build your own type meal. I had the garden vegetable and Chicago Style steak with the Asiago rice. My cousin had the same but with the double baked potato. Our salads arrived first. We had ordered dressing on the side and but unfortunately both came with dressing on the salad. The waitress tried to get us to eat the salad with the dressing even though we clearly stated DRESSING ON THE SIDE. After about 10 minutes they brought the salads back as per our requests. They were very good salads with lots of veggies. After that the main course came. # of us had Chicago Style steak and the other two had Salmon. The steak was to die for...the best steak I have ever had. Perfectly cooked and just the way I like it. On the downside both Salmon dishes were under cooked. As a result they were somewhat gooey. They were sent back and cooked more. They came back cooked the way they should be. By that time another 10 or 15 minutes had passed. For desert we had one of the small brulée cups and a Billy Miner. Read moreI just experienced the most memorable restaurant service here. I used to not think of the KEG as anything super special. I knew they have good quality food that comes with the price tag. But today I realized it's really the service that makes the place special and worth revisiting. We ordered appitizers, steak and ribs. Everything was very tasty except for my husband's medium steak. It was a little on the dry side. When our server Matt asked, he hesitated to give an immediate positive answer. Matt made sure we told him what was the issue and offered to take it back and have entire entree remade. Unfortunately, the second steak was so chewy, my husband couldn't really swallow it. Our server Matt and the manager Hailey kept coming back to check on us. And they quickly realized the second steak was still not satisfactory. Hailey insisted on having a third entree made for us. At this point, I'd finished my meal. So Hailey comped the steak for us to take home. She said it was because the two of us wasn't able to have a nice meal together. All of this happened without us needing to really complain much at all, and we definitely weren't made to feel like we were in any way inconveniencing them. This entire experience really sets a high standard for restaurant services, and completely changed my opinion of the KEG. Read moreGreat food and intimate atmosphere!! I only really go here once in awhile as it is not the cheapest restaurant in the city. Although the start was not the greatest, I was very pleased with this restaurant. There wasn't a hostess when we arrived so we had to wait a little bit until I had to approach a waiter to get seated. I was apologized many times by multiple staff members and seated quickly so that was good acknowledgment on their part. Upon getting seated we were greeted with our server and the drink menu was given to us. I cannot say I liked the price for the moscato but restaurants typically charge more than what it actually costs at the liquor store so I came to terms with that. We ended up ordering what was on special because even though you can make a good steak at home, nothing beats being able to get one made for you with excellent flavor and accompanied by a shrimp/scallop Oscar!! The manager had been informed about us having to wait to be attended that she even gave us the lobster appetizer we ordered for free and apologized for the inconvenience which was really nice. Steak was cooked perfectly (difficult to get a med well steak these days) and our meal already came with sautéed mushrooms so we didn't even have to order that separately!!
