Cravins Caribbean Grill — Restaurant in Markham

Today July 29, 2020 around 12:00 noon I noticed this Caribbean restaurant while in the area and decided to check them out, and maybe buy some food to take for my family. When I entered there were 3 females at the front counter with their heads looking down what seemed like packing food in containers. Not one of them raised their head to welcome me or acknowledge my presence. No "Hi, hello, good day, we'll be with you in a few minutes", nothing. There were 2 male customers at the time, one ahead of me who soon went to the washroom, and the other came in after me. After a few minutes one of the females raised her head and asked if she could help me; I asked for a menu so I could see what they serve with the intention of trying them out. She softly said "menu" to one of the other females. I continued waiting while none of the other two even looked at me. The one who spoke to me went to the back so I got the impression she was getting me a menu list but when she returned she just continued with what she was doing. I then left in disgust and disappointed at how rude, unwelcoming, discourteous, and inhospitable all three females were. Not sure where else to find Caribbean food in the area but this place definitely hits the spot when i have a craving. I've dropped in a few times to grab takeout during lunch. I always get the lunch special as its a great deal!!.. it comes with a pop and the portions are generous... I've had the stew chicken and curry coat -- both were flavourful and satisfying. Mind you i'm not expert on caribbean food but to me they were tasty. Not really spicy but i think they have hot sauce on the side if you choose to add. For sides, i've got the rice and coleslaw. Both i find a great light compliment for the strong flavours coming from the meat. There are other sides too (i can remember the list off the top of my head).

Seems like they do alot of takeout but there is also a seating area where people can dine in.

I see some red stripe in the fridge behind the counter, so i assume they also serve alcohol here.

I'll definitely need to revisit on other days to try their...

When I first walked in, there was loud music (good music but a bit loud when trying to place my order). I also had to call back to the kitchen for someone to help me as there was no one at the counter for a while. A teenager came out and did not know how to input my order so he had to go back to get older woman to help him.

I got curry chicken roti wrap, side rice and peas with oxtail gravy, and jerk leg. The roti itself was good and they did not skip on filling it. The jerk flavour reminded me of pre-made jar jerk sauce, which was very disappointing. Overall, the food was eatable but lacked flavour and spice (except the jerk). I was expecting the oxtail gravy to be amazing but it again lacked flavour and it was more sweet tasting than spicy. Same with the curry chicken.

The photos make the atmosphere look better than it is. The outdoor seating wasn't set up nicely...
