Five Guys — Restaurant in Markham

The reason this place deserves a review is because the service is so good. This is corny, but I always leave this restaurant feeling great because everyone there is so nice. Unless these were just random letters written on my receipt, the employee in charge of my order yesterday was named Pat. Without exception, I've received super friendly experience from every employee I've interacted with there.

Food-wise, I've honestly never understood the craze and could not tell you a Five Guys burger tastes that much better than any other burger I've eaten. The patty is maybe juicier than a Big Mac but now I'm just looking for differences that I didn't immediately notice when eating.

They are filling though. I eat a lot and I've resorted to getting the Little Burgers now. I like how they have grilled mushrooms and grilled onions as free topping options. I've tried the regular burgers and the burgers with bacon and I don't really feel like the bacon adds anything.

I also usually get a regular size cajun fries, which is always too much but I never learn my lesson. A Little Burger and a Little fries would be enough, especially because they fill the fries container and then scoop another container full into the bag. They're nothing special, but they taste good and sometimes I just crave the cajun flavouring because I'm not familiar with any other place in Markham that does that with their fries.

I guess $11 is kind of expensive for a burger and fries (no drink) if you're just looking for cheap fast food, but the service and location are good and parking is...

5 guys is my favorite burger joint but this location has some issues with quality. This is only my second time at this location with my favorite location being in Guelph. But I domt live in Guelph, I live here. One improvement from last time was that the burger did not taste stale. Last time I came to this location it did. Maybe it was a one time event, I hope so. The guys that work here are nice and kind people, but they need to slow down and take better care preparing the food. This location is actually faster than any location I've been to, but that doesnt matter if things aren't done properly. My main issue were the fries. When you pay $6 for fries, you dont expect them to be inedible. The fries have way too much salt (see photos), so much so that the bottom of the bag is drenched in it. The fries were cold and the color, look at that. It was obviously premade. When I get five guys are other places I actually have to wait a good bit for the fries to cool down before eating it, here it was cold and I ate it only 8 minutes after buying them. I had this problem last time as well, too much salt, undersalting is better than drowning fries in salt and make the fries when we order them, not before or with someone else's order, not for $6.with the burger, putting toppings on both the bottom and the top doesnt always work especially if not done right, it will make the bread soggy fast depending on how you do it but the burger was still good though. Me and my son were in the area so I finally decided to try out five guys. This place has serious hype and everyone I know said this place is great. However my experience was more on the sad side. First of all the place was rather messy,. But that is not important if the food is good. The price for the burgers and fries are outrageously expensive,. But if the taste is good that shouldn't matter. The unlimited fountain drink is a good idea but is poorly maintained. The cherry coke was flat, coke zero was empty, coke was also flat. Only the fruitopia was drinkable. After a short wait we finally got our food. My son had lettuce in his burger,. But it was brown. Can't even get fresh veggies with such an expensive burger. I had a bacon cheese burger with grilled mushrooms and steak sauce. Can't taste any sauce, the meat was good quality but no taste, other than bacon this burger has no other taste. The fries being one of their main selling points was another huge disappointment. They are very burnt and taste like grease. My son who really loves fries didn't even want to eat it.
