-Place is dingy, dirty, tables are wobbly. My mom is a tiny woman and almost fell backwards out of the chair. -Flies are everywhere. -Food is dry, overcooked, not prepared fresh. -Customer service was insulting to say the least. -The lady there will rip you off. Wants to charge for a few slices of cucumber. -Took food off my plate to put onto another plate to give me a dismal serving. -If she doesn't like you, she will cut corners on your portion sizes. I saw you, lady.
Long version:
Oh boy, where do I even start with this one.
So, my mother frequents this place and insists that it has pretty decent food. I've come here before, but it was awhile ago so I decided to give it another shot. My mom orders the chicken breast dinner and I noticed that they have a pita combo for an extra 2.49. I figured I'd get some fries with it, given I noticed that they were made fresh. I noticed how dingy the place was, but I wasn't disgusted until i saw all the flies buzzing about.
My moms dish goes in no problem. However, the portion sizes were quite small compared to the people ahead of us. The server was this middle-aged woman with an eternal scowl on her face. I understand how hard food service is given I've worked countless years in it, so I pleasantly ask for no onions and to put a bit of cheese in my Pita instead. She gives me a dirty look and complies. I then ask if it is possible to put a few cucumber slices in. She looks up at me,
"I charge for that."
Nowhere did I see on the menu that they charge for extra items. Taken aback slightly, I just mumble an apology and ask for tomatoes and lettuce. She rings us through, and I notice her putting some fries down for my combo.
My mother and I sat down and begin eating. I know fries takes awhile to cook so I sit there patiently waiting. Mom is irritated at this point but she's trying to make the best out of the situation. So she notices the woman play with the metal basket and gets up to get my fries. She basically places it infront of me. There is barely anything on that plate. My mother even said the woman piled the other plate and took a chunk of fries from my plate to put onto the other. We paid 2.49 extra and I take a bite and notice that there was no salt or seasoning on them whatsoever. I ask my mom to ask the woman for some ketchup or some salt. The lady at the counter said we "didn't pay for seasoning". What the heck? I just wanted ketchup or at...
Read moreJune 25, 2023 Food is as close to homemade as you can get in a city full of fast food. Very recently, the food is very good and enough to fuel your for long periods. They also lowered the prices making it more affordable which was a huge plus compared to what it was previously. Owner is very nice, friendly and treats you like family, and food portion is quite enough to last you (1 meal and a half if you get the dinner plate). I would want to give 5 star because how it drastically turned into being more affordable but the only slight turn off I had today was the rice tasted a little funny. This only happens every once in awhile out of all the other times the rice was good, so it's not too big of a deal as it occurs very infrequently.
REPEALED-REPEALED-REPEALED-REPEALED: Late-2020
OVERPRICED! Been using this as a go-to for lunch and dinner for 9 years.Workers refused to give me a 10% discount even after the owner told them many times. Some of them just downright refused or slid an excuse to not call the owner just give a 10% discount for their overpriced meals that they are already minting money in the first place. Just before the pandemic I had ceased any business with the owner and it's highly rude, unhygienic workers, who fail to maintain food preparation protocols as the pieces of salad drip on to other areas of food. If you want greek food, just go to Jimmy the Greek in Markville Mall. Both are over-priced and still relatively bad(in terms of customer service) but at least for that one, the food doesn't taste foul after being refrigerated for one day. Just don't go here. It's not worth summoning your appetite for Greek food to fuel a poorly runned restaurant that continues to squeeze every ounce of profit for such terrible...
Read moreI had such high hopes when I visited the Greek Stop today and ordered a gyro. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling deeply disappointed. To start with, the person who seemed to be the owner prepared my wrap, and much to my dismay, it was made with a whole grain pita. I never requested a whole grain option, and it's common practice to inquire about such preferences, but that didn't happen here.
As if the whole grain pita wasn't bad enough, it was also apparent that the pita was old and stale. It practically crumbled in my hands, which was quite off-putting. To make matters worse, the meat in my gyro seemed like it had been cut off the spit the day before. The well-used spit was stationary and fully cooked, indicating that it wasn't fresh. I couldn't believe this was happening, especially considering it was a start of the day.
Overall, my experience at the Greek Stop was far from satisfying. I had hoped for a delicious and freshly made gyro, but instead, I ended up with a disappointing and lackluster meal. It's safe to say that I won't be returning...
