I ordered the wonton soup noodle with brisket and my mom ordered the wonton soup noodle.
SOUP i tried my mom's wonton soup as mine had the brisket sauce mixed it, and though it was tasty, it was really salty. the brisket sauce is also very salty. this soup was so salty it took away from the experience. tasting the soup, you taste salt before any other flavours from the broth. i was left thirsty for hours, and i had to drink about a liter of water to quench my thirst.
in my opinion, Jim Chai Kee (richmond hill) has a much better soup. it's seasoned correctly so that one can taste the nuanced flavour of the wonton soup first, and the salt is there to enhance that.
NOODLES noodles were perfectly cooked. they were super chewy, and held up to the soup during the course of the meal.
WONTONS about 3 whole shrimps (30/34 size). ok springiness and texture. flavour was great. wrapper was ok.
noteworthy is that wonton soup noodles come with 4 wontons. i ordered wonton soup noodle + brisket, and i only got 3.
BRISKET stewed really well. very, very soft- it was fork tender. the meat was also trimmed so that my portion of beef had no elastin at all. there were thin layers of fat and gelatin left on that really enhanced the flavour. sadly, it was...
Read moreAfter all these years, the food is still excellent. If it is not the best of the best, it has to be at least one of the best in town. People living in Markham are so lucky that you don’t have to go far to enjoy a bowl of Wanton. This is the authentic Hong Kong Wanton. It is fresh and it is made fresh and it is always fresh. This is a very unique food item originated from Hong Kong. This is our comfort food as well. I personally like to have the rice noodles together with the red vinegar. I think this is not the best combination. The service has some rooms to improve. However this is the way it works in Hong Kong. No other places you will see the owner sits behind the cashier all day long and giving out orders. Be prepared to wait for your table as there is no machine to handle any waitlists. But the wait is absolutely worth! Be patience while getting a parking spot too. Otherwise park your car just a little further and walk! It will also help to digest after enjoying a big...

The soup comes in a separate container and the noodle container is the bowl shaped ones so you can pour and eat directly from it. Service is always friendly. They're open for dine in now, Vax record checked before seating. Fried fish skin is a new addition to the menu.
Got the dumpling and hot and sour pork lo mein. Wonton Hut has been more or less consistent with their wontons but I find that their soup used to have better depth of flavour. It could just be the sourcing of quality ingredients is more difficult these days but I find that the shrimp wontons don't have as much of a fragrant shrimp flavour as before. Prices have steadily gone up over the years as well.
Their hot & sour pork isn't traditional with more ketchup flavours but it's still pretty good. I prefer the dumplings here. There's a nice mix of textures from the shrimp, pork and crunchy wood...
