I wish I could give zero star if I can. We had the most horrible and unpleasant experience at this place for lunch on Oct 5,2024. Receipt attached for proof. When we called restaurant asking to see if there is free parking. The owner aka the Indian guy with glasses said” you should read signs along street and figure out yourself. I don’t know where you can park. I don’t live here.” I was like wow…that’s not very nice. But it’s okay. We could figure it out as he said. I had a quick thought in my head ,” hmm…shall I give someone business if he is not that nice? “ but we just finished visiting halton railway museum and it’s was almost 3 pm. and we were all hungry.
We ordered lamb shank ($36), seafood risotto ($38) and kids meat ball pasta ($16). The food looked delicious and owner came to ask if food was okay. At that moment I had not tried mussel in the risotto. And we liked lamb shank. So, I said food were delicious.
But when I tried mussel, it was bad and not fresh. It tasted like washroom. So we called waitress and told her the mussel was bad. She went to talk to the Indian owner and after that nothing happened. The Indian owner didn’t even come to check with us and he just sat at the corner watching us. We lost patience and called the waitress again and asked her if they were going to do something. The Indian guy finally came.
I told him the mussel was not good and not fresh. He said “ but the risotto is okay and you can eat it right?” This was the moment he turned on the ANGRY button on me. OMG, so I raised my voice and asked him “ you want me to finish the risotto which has the seafood I am not sure if it’s safe for me to eat anymore?”He said to me,”I guarantee you that our mussel was cooked by white wine and it’s safe to eat.” WOW… because they were cooked by alcohol so that it’s now safe to eat even they were rotten?!
He then accused me by saying that he saw me continued eating the risotto. Pardon me? My hubby was sharing the mashed potato with me and put some on my plate. So,the whole time you were sitting there and watching us was to see if I continued eating the risotto instead of coming to us to solve the rotten food issue?
He pointed out that I were saying food were okay how come now I said it was not okay. I have told him with my voice raised that because I hadn’t tried mussel when he asked me. In total, I had 3 bites and put some risotto on a small plate for my baby to try and also gave some to my hubby to try.
He kept asking me to lower my voice and calm down and treating him like a human. And to give him respects. Excuse me, sorry I couldn’t. I could no longer stay calm at the moment he asked me to continue finishing the risotto. If I were not treated like a human. It wouldn’t be fair for me to treating someone genuinely who are asking me to endanger my health and possibly ending up in emergency room.
And I couldn’t calm down when I was accused for his own ridiculous suspicions. Basically, the Indian owner accused me for wanting to have free meal. We were 3 adults and a baby. If I wanted to have free meal, why wouldn’t I have ordered 3 main courses instead of 2?I have to admit that I made a bad decision to eat Italian seafood dish in an Indian person owned restaurant and I should have trusted my gut feeling when he asked me to look for the parking signs on the phone. In the end, I insisted that I did not want to eat anything from his restaurant and he took the seafood risotto off from my bill. We still paid for tips since the waiter and waitress are nice.
Now I regret I did so. I should have insisted to pay for the rotten mussel risotto because my 23 month old baby had diarrhea when we arrived our Toronto home. My baby had 2 table spoon of this risotto.
We are big fan of seafood. We have ordered mussel dish in other Italian sea food place. Mussel is a quite common dish to have when we eat out.
If you don’t want to torture yourself and have a bad day and if you have young kids. Please avoid going to this...
Read moreLocated in downtown Milton, Casa Americo Italian Bistro & Restaurant promises an enticing journey through Italian cuisine. With eager anticipation, I finally ventured into this establishment, hoping for a memorable culinary experience. Regrettably, my visit left much to be desired.
Opting for a classic starter, I ordered the garlic bread with cheese. However, the dish fell short of expectations, resembling more of a basic baguette with a sparse topping of cheese. Its lackluster flavor and uninspired presentation left me underwhelmed, prompting hesitation in recommending it to future diners.
Moving onto the main courses, I selected the Risotto Ai Funghi Porcini and Penne Chicken Supreme. The risotto, while decent, failed to deliver the anticipated garlic infusion, a crucial component in this traditional dish. Additionally, the texture of the rice diverged from the expected standard, diminishing the overall authenticity and enjoyment of the dish. Similarly, the penne dish, while satisfactory, lacked innovation, offering nothing remarkable or memorable to elevate it above average.
Considering the pricing of these dishes, ranging from $24 to $27 each, the lackluster quality becomes all the more disappointing. To salvage the flavors, I found myself resorting to additional seasoning upon returning home, highlighting the restaurant's failure to deliver dishes worthy of their price tags.
Beyond the culinary aspect, the customer service further marred the dining experience. With only three staff members attending to the entire restaurant, the wait time for food stretched to an unacceptable 35-40 minutes. Moreover, an unsettling atmosphere pervaded the establishment, with an incident overheard suggesting unprofessional behavior among the servers, further detracting from the overall dining ambiance.
Reflecting on my visit, I find myself disinclined to return to Casa Americo Italian Bistro & Restaurant. The combination of lackluster dishes, inflated prices, and subpar customer service fails to justify a return visit or recommendation to others. Paying $75 for three lackluster dishes, coupled with a disheartening dining experience, simply does not align with expectations for a memorable culinary outing.
In conclusion, Casa Americo Italian Bistro & Restaurant falls short of its promise to deliver an authentic and satisfying Italian dining experience. With numerous other dining options available in downtown Milton, I would advise potential patrons to explore alternative establishments that prioritize quality cuisine and attentive service over...
Read moreHeard great things about this local Italian restaurant. Our experience last night was not so great. We had a reservation at 8pm. We showed up 15 minutes early. Once sat at our table we waited almost 15 minutes to be greeted and had to ask for a menu and wine list. Menu was placed off to the side to signal we were ready, another 10 minutes go by before the waiter came to take our order. Now 8:30. A few minutes later the caeser salad come , meh! Nothing special. We had to wave over the waiter to ask for pepper and bread. 15 minutes go by and still no drinks. Main course comes, we said we were sharing both dishes, no bigger side plates were giving and we never saw the waiter again. Owner came by a to say hello, nice touch. Told him we weren’t enjoying the veal parmigiana but the mushroom risotto was good. A few minutes later he saw us looking around and stopped back at our table. We told him the veal was not really good, the menu described it as baked in tomato sauce. This was not. The tomato sauce was thick like a paste, seemed like all the moisture was dried out. The cheese on to was browned, a bit over cooked. Mozzarella should of had some cheesy stretch to it and this do not. He seemed to be insulted when we said we weren’t enjoying it. Didn’t offer to fix it or replace it or offer any solution. We mentioned to the owner that the service we’ve received was not the greatest. To long to be approached and drinks forgotten. No table checks from waiter had to flag other people down for more water and bread. Another waitress came by and asked if we were done, we just asked for the bill. Owner came by with our bill and credit card machine. Proceeds to tell us he’s never had anyone complain about the veal before leaves the machine and walks away. We Paid the bill in full, most restaurants would have taken the veal or at least the salad off the bill to make some sort of retribution for the bad service or terrible food. Not this place. This is the first time ever I didn’t leave a tip. So disappointed by the disrespect we received from the owner. A side.not if the owner reads this, " if you are charging these prices , your waiter should not be wearing track pants. This is not a...
