The TLDR: Going to Milton for business, found a highly rated breakfast/lunch restaurant. Had an amazing breakfast with awesome service, was served by the owner, had a great chat and now we will come back whenever we are in town
I haven't been to the old part of Milton in a while...most of times it has been north of the 401 or just south. Power Malls, new developements, industrial etc....very much like the Heartland area of Mississauga. Driving around the old part of Milton is a welcome surprise of small shops and busniness located around Main St. I read about this amazing breakfast at Grill Daddy in Milton and decided to give it a whril. My wife and I arrived late around 2:30 pm on a Saturday. Most breakfast places close around 2:30pm 3pm after the breakfast rush. We walked in and it looked like they were closing up for the day. We were greeted by Sri (later we found out was the owner). He welcomed us in and said that he was open if we were hungry and wanted to eat. We didn't want to impose because working in the restaurant industry we know how it can be difficult to serve guests if you have sent everyone home. Sri said that "Customers come first, then its family, then its me" We were taken in by his candor and his welcomness that we sat near the back of the restaurant near the kitchen, so that he wouldn't have to walk to far to bring us our food.
The menu is quite large and from what I have seen from other reviews the portions are quite generous. My wife ordered the BLT special in a wrap with fresh avacado and I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries. Sri took our orders and was quick with our beverages. I read a review that the homefries with the breakfasts are amazing and I kind of regretted not getting a breakfast to try out these "homefries" Our meals came quite fast and to my surprise my burger came with homefries!! It's like he read my mind!! Food quality is excellent...way above par that most restaurants I have been to lately. Fresh tomatoes, crispy bacon, juicy burgers and soft buns. Sri came by and checked in to make sure the food was good. We had a quick discussion and found out he was the owner and that it was a family business. He was usually in back running the kitchen, but that afternoon he was working the front of the house and luckily for us we were graced with his service. I would highly recommend Grill Daddy if your in Milton. Support Sri and his local business and try out his restaurants amazing...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. Arrived at approximately 12:25pm for lunch with a co-worker, the place was super-loud, as if we were in a nightclub. We were seated at the back just outside the kitchen. The waitress took our drink order pretty quickly. She returned with the drinks and then took our food order. At 1:00 pm we questioned the waitress as to where our food was and she said “ oh, I was just about to check”, she goes to the kitchen and then returns to our table to tell us it would be another 10 minutes. These were not complicated dishes, just eggs Benny and bacon and eggs. I could see the kitchen staff packing take-out orders, which seemed to be their priority, I mean who cares about the customers who are seated anyway? I told her to cancel the orders and bring us our bill for the drinks as it was now time for us to head back to work. She offered no apology whatsoever. She returned to the kitchen to tell them we had cancelled and then came back to our table to say “Actually, your order is almost up, would you like it to-go?” I said “No, where am I supposed to eat it, on the retail floor of my store??”. I was in a clearly marked uniform which should have given her a hint that we had a time limit. Again I asked for the bill for our drinks. She proceeded to speak to other customers at another table. She then returned to the payment area, we got up from our table , went over to her and asked again to pay the bill. She gladly took our money (over $7 for 2 cans of iced tea), however those drinks which were both served in a can should have been comped! Worst restaurant...
Read moreI shared this on Yelp too- Phenomenal quality food made- I can taste how much love and care was put into it. I’m a huge breakfast/brunch person so I gotta say my standards are quite high. I have to say this place beat out all the other breakfast places I’ve tried. The food portions were great, not stingy at all, everything tasted fresh and put together with a lot of thought and effort. We had the Florentine Benedict, the Milton Breakfast Platter and the Banana Nutella Crepe! I had the Benedict, it wasn’t run down or pasty, just the right amount of creaminess over 3 eggs, a great amount of spinach and some cheese and fresh English muffin. The homemade fries had a very nice touch of seasoning with a light crisp on the outside and soft enough in the inside. It wasn’t dripping with oil or anything. Loved it! The crepe wasn’t overly sweet but just enough of sweetness to it- again it tasted not of a franchise quick put-together of cream and Nutella but so much fresher and with thought. I don’t know how to explain. Bananas and some strawberries on the side were fresh and that dash of cinnamon and honey was just perfect. I got to speak and meet with Sri, the chef and owner and you can tell how much of a passion and heart he has for the food he makes for all of his customers. He doesn’t feed customers he wouldn’t genuinely enjoy himself. Please give this place a try guys and say hello to Sri! I don’t normally do reviews on public platform but this one I felt...
