La Toscana in Milton offers a delightful escape into the world of traditional Italian dining, housed within the charming and historic Thompson House. It's a place that certainly aims for a more upscale experience, making it a popular choice for special occasions, date nights, or simply when you're craving a taste of authentic Italy. One of the immediate draws of La Toscana is its ambiance. The restaurant is situated in a beautifully restored historic building, which lends a refined and elegant atmosphere. You can often see the original stonework, and the decor aims to evoke a classic Italian feel. It's the kind of place where you can relax and truly enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. They also have a lovely patio when the weather permits, perfect for al fresco dining. The food at La Toscana generally lives up to the sophisticated setting. Their menu features a good range of classic Italian dishes, from various pastas to seafood and meat entrees. While specific dishes can vary with specials, you can expect well-prepared plates with fresh ingredients. They also boast an extensive wine list, which is a significant plus for wine enthusiasts looking to pair their meal perfectly. Portions are typically generous, and the quality is generally consistent with a fine dining establishment. Service tends to be professional and attentive, aiming to provide a polished experience. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. For parking, being in downtown Milton, it's good to know that there are free municipal lots on Mary St and Brown St, as well as on Main Street west of St. This is quite convenient, especially for a more upscale restaurant where street parking might otherwise be a challenge. However, it's worth noting that La Toscana falls into the $$$ pricing category, so be prepared for a higher bill than your average weeknight dinner spot. Reservations are also often recommended, especially for peak dining hours, as it can get quite busy. Overall, La Toscana delivers a genuine taste of Italy with a sophisticated touch in the heart of Milton. If you're looking for a special dining experience with good food, a great wine selection, and a beautiful atmosphere, it's definitely a place...
Read moreI had high hopes with this restaurant seeing all the wonderful reviews.
Appetizer - grilled calamari - well cooked and it tasted delicious Escargot - not the typical way that you imagine it served but it had good flavours in it. It came with mushrooms and served creamy?
Main: portion is small specially the “side veggies” Pollo Frangelico - dish was bland, chicken was very dry and the cream had no flavour. It was lacking spice and salt. I wasn’t the only one in our table to ordered this so it definitely was not a mistake.
NY Sirloin - ordered medium got medium rare, the plate had bloody juice from cutting the meat. Also found this one was very salty. Spaghetti Bolognese - best one of the three dishes we ordered. Tasted great and generous portion. I recommend getting this dish to avoid any disappointment.
Dessert - good selection, the creme brûlée was delicious.
Staff was okay, had to ask for a couple things twice but for the most part they are friendly.
Over all the place is nice but for the price and the overall food experience we will not be going back unless it is for another...
Read moreCelebrating my 65th was a lovely experience at this restaurant in Milton Ontario. We Started with a delicious Caesar salad, a caprese salad and hubby had the house special soup which was pea soup. All were delicious. Main courses were Rack of lamb done to perfection with a side of pasta with olio sauce. Daughter had the linguini Pescatore which was loaded with mussels, clams, calamari, shrimp,, scallops in a tomato sauce. Also delicious. Hubby had the spaghetti Arrabiatta with a grilled Italian sausage. It normally is served with rigatoni but he preferred spaghetti and they kindly obliged. Birthday dessert was fresh fruit peaches with icecream and an espresso. Everything was perfect and Alfredo our waiter was amazing. We weren’t rushed. Reserved a table by the window. Restaurant was packed for a Monday evening as it’s usually a slower day for restaurants. Ambience was romantic and comfortable. Also had a bottle of wine from their nice selection of wines. One of my favourite places for a lovely dinner for a...
