Unfair Parking Ticket and Terrible Accessibility for Disputes
I received a parking ticket in Milton in a spot where there was no sign indicating that parking wasn’t allowed. To make it worse, other vehicles were parked there too—it’s all visible in the photo they mailed me with the ticket.
My dispute appointment was scheduled for 3:00 PM, but I had major issues accessing Zoom. I called in using my phone instead of my laptop, and every time I tried switching between my email and the dial pad to enter the Meeting ID, the automated system automatically processed the incomplete number. Zoom doesn’t give enough time to enter the full ID—it cuts you off if you pause for even two seconds. Try it yourself and you’ll see what I mean.
I’ve successfully joined Zoom meetings this way before, so it’s frustrating that this time I couldn’t get in. I kept trying, then eventually replied to the confirmation email—only to find out it was a “no reply” address. There was no clear way to get help or notify anyone I was having issues.
As a last resort, I called the City at 3:25 PM I was able to reach parking department and was finally connected to the correct department. But by then, they told me the grace period is only 15 minutes—and after 3:15, there was nothing they could do. They just told me to email the manager.
What’s extremely concerning is how inaccessible this system is. What about elderly individuals or people with disabilities? This process is unfair and far too rigid. There should be better accommodations and clearer communication—especially when technology issues happen. The email with zoom link is sent once you book the appointment but a reminder is set a day before with out a link or any instructions to access it . I swear to god whoever set this system did it in way where he wants people to miss appointments and pay additional fees!!! Screening officers have the email the number even address of individuals they don’t lose anything by being a decent human emailing calling or trying to check on the person having the screening. A lot of ppl including me like to do things in person being forced to do online and having to pay penalty for not being able to access online meeting should...

I recently moved into a new home and unfortunately had a terrible experience with the local parking enforcement. My vehicle received five parking tickets on the following dates: June 19, 20, 26, 27, and 29. However, the only ticket I ever saw was on June 29, which was placed on my windshield. I had absolutely no idea I was being ticketed on the previous days—no notice, no warning, nothing was ever left on my dashboard or windshield.
As a new resident, I was temporarily parking in front of my house while unloading and organizing my garage. If I had received a ticket or any notice on June 19, I would have stopped immediately. But instead, they quietly issued multiple fines without letting me know. Only once I found the ticket on June 29 did I stop parking there—and I’ve fully complied ever since.
I reached out by email and respectfully requested that they cancel or at least reduce the tickets prior to June 29, since I had never been made aware. They completely ignored my situation and insisted I pay all of them. No consideration, no response—just pay and shut up.
Honestly, this feels like nothing more than a way to rob people, especially those who are new to the area and unfamiliar with local rules. No warnings, no courtesy—just fines piling up in the system while you’re left in the dark. Extremely unfair and deeply...
Read moreI was previously planning a 3-day trip to Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area, but I have now changed my mind after watching a video from True North Transparency about their visit to Milton City Hall. I was disappointed by the unprofessional behavior of some of the employees who confronted the citizen journalist. Citizen journalism refers to journalism conducted by people who are not professional journalists, but who disseminate information using websites, blogs, and social media. This is not fake news, but a reality that reflects how visitors like me might be treated when entering the building. Therefore, I suggest that all staff members should have a refresher course on how to communicate with the public, including the public’s right to photograph and video in public places. This topic should also be included in the employment...
