I was excited about this place coming to the area. Thought that I would get the taste I remember as a kid. home made, fresh bread, potatoes fried in of course, bacon fat, meticulously layered with potatoes cut, fresh homemade bread, salt and pepper, and a splash of vinegar. Wow, can't forget the cold fresh milk on the side. Its not about Mom's special extra special treat delivered to the stoop of our one room school house delivered before lunch, piping hot for the 4 of us. This bread had a flavor and texture that I have yet to find, whether made for Families pizza and freshie night. The pizza sauce a generations in the making, by my favourite cousin Lena, of course of Italian heritage. Where am I going with this long drawn out diatribe. The bread recipes are good, but possibly my expectations were too high. I feel bread is the basis of most any other food staple. Think about your favorites. Tomato and bread, salt and pepper, veal or chicken cutlet smothered in most any slow cooked vegetable smothered in a sauce of your choice, over a specialty bread or fresh sliced. An English tradition, cucumber sandwich, a favourite. In closing bread is meant to be a foundation that will pair with most any food group. Exceptions, diet, 1000 year old staple food feeding vast amounts af people. Yes COBS is good, and will fill the void for most people. Yet for me, a bread made by hand 100 pounds of flour at a time, within a made trough cooked with in a hand made stacked fire brick oven, past...
Read moreWe've heard lots of things about Cobs but didn't know we had a location in Milton. We received a flyer with a free coupon for a loaf of bread with the purchase of any pack of cross buns and immediately wanted to visit because we've heard so many great things. We were not disappointed and ended up leaving with a baguette, olive loaf, scone and cross buns. The service is great. It was super busy but the servers were very attentive and patient which you ordered. They have such a huge selection of sweet and savoury baked goods which are all baked the same day. Because it was our 1st visit they gave us a free scone! Highly recommend coming back here and I look forward to trying out the...
Read moreI’ve always loved COBS Bread but this was my first time buying something from this location. It’s quite small and only 3 customers are allowed in at a time due to covid (I went in around 5pm just before a big line formed outside), but I wouldn’t really mind it unless I’m running on a tight schedule or something. I called in the morning to ask a few questions and set aside some items for a quick pickup later in the day and the lady on the phone was so kind and patient. The cashiers were also very pleasant! The baked goods are great, but the customer service is even better. Looking forward to...
