My first time was not quite a charm - although I was very much looking forward to this, my first visit to Firehouse Subs.
Staff are very friendly and professional. They're very patient and take time to answer your questions thoroughly.
The Steak And Cheese sub was recommended to me at work and just sounded delicious. So that is what I ordered.
Prices are conveniently, from the seller's perspective, not posted anywhere. Not in the shop, nor online. Hmmm....I wonder why?
I ordered the large size and, well, it costed almost sixteen dollars!! It was almost a foot long and comes in its own box. It still felt "light" - "light" for a sixteen dollar expense, that is. ($13.89 + HST). (Now I know why I didn't see prices listed anywhere...)
I returned home with the sub and cut it in half to share with the wife. It wasn't bad - it certainly wasn't the worst sub I ever had and it still tasted better than most in the competition.
It was replete with steak, but the cheese in question seemed a little skimpy. There were minute traces of mozzarella in there and, I suspect, a few dollops of that "pump cheese". Onions, dijon mustard and mayo were added to the mix for a not bad tasting sub. Additional toppings (lettuce, olives, jalapeno peppers et al.) are free.
They do include a sizable pickle slice for free - pickle, ogórki, gherkin - you know what I mean?
You cannot see them preparing your food. And there's quite a bit of packaging to throw out. Somehow you just get the feeling something isn't right because the sub didn't weigh much but was packaged to seem heftier than it really was.
Staff are friendly to a T, the place is spotless, the atmosphere is jovial but I just can't fathom spending almost sixteen dollars for a sub again.
Where and what was the "cheese" in that Steak & "Cheese" submarine?

Read moreDear Firehouse Subs Management,
I’m writing to express some concerns about my recent experiences at your Milton location. Over the past two weeks, I’ve visited three times, and on each occasion, the restaurant has been out of Diet Mello Yello—one of the main reasons I choose your establishment. As you may know, Firehouse Subs is the only place in town that offers this particular beverage as a fountain drink, and it’s become a key part of why I frequent your restaurant.
Today, I purchased a large drink only to find the Diet Mello Yello ran out halfway through filling my cup. When I brought this to the attention of a staff member, I was brushed off with no offer of a refund or alternative—something I found disappointing, even though I wasn’t looking for compensation.
In addition to the recurring issue with the drink inventory, I’ve also noticed a decline in service and overall cleanliness. On my most recent visit, the floors were noticeably dirty, the bathroom was not well maintained, and many of the tables in the dining area were sticky or uncleared. This is quite different from the high standards I remember when the Milton location first opened, where the food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent.
It saddens me to say that Firehouse Subs no longer feels like my go-to sub spot in town. I sincerely hope this feedback reaches the local management or ownership team and prompts a return to the quality and care that once made your location stand out.
I would appreciate a response and hope to see improvements in the...

On Saturday, Feb 22, 2025, around 02:30 pm. we had a family lunch at this restaurant. Usually, we were going here before and everything was fine.
Our son had a "Club on a sub" sandwich, we had "French dip" sandwich.
1 hour after lunch our 9 y.o. son started having severe nausea and vomiting. My wife and I only had a nausea because we only tasted a little portion of our son's sandwich.
Our son had severe food poisoning symptoms until Sunday's noon.
We are sure that exactly our lunch with "Club on a sub" sandwich caused a food poisoning, because that day before the poisoning we literally didn't have any piece of food since a light breakfast at home at 8 o'clock in the morning. Our next meal after breakfast was only lunch at this restaurant, after which severe symptoms of food poisoning began.
After that incident we made a phone call to a restaurant to request for a sanitary inspection and some refund, but Chef's answer next day was that they are sorry about this, and it is not their fault, because they've made an inspection, and they are sure that all the meals are prepared properly.
It wasn't possible to reach a manager/supervisor or any customer service on a website.
So, as a result, we've got: food poisoning, terrible condition of our son for 24 hrs; wasted family weekend; lost money for bad lunch, medical treatment & prepaid Sunday classes for our son; careless customer service with Chef's irritated voice in the end.
I wouldn't recommend...
