I can't say enough great things about our recent dining experience at Louie's Diner - we had always driven by, but somehow the timing to visit for a meal never quite worked out - that all changed yesterday! We had thought they were open until 3pm that day like most days, but when we got to the door their hours on a Sunday are until 2pm and it was, quite literally, 1:53pm. We were obviously noticed standing outside talking about alternatives given our, once again, poor timing when a very nice person inside waived us in! I can't tell you how happy we were and, honestly, if you take nothing else away from this review, let it be that they were kind enough to still feed us a few minutes before their closing time - that's both amazing and uncommon. We sat down and reviewed the menu - thank goodness for all-day breakfast as that's what we were hoping for, but we'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu too in the future. The food arrived hot and the portion sizes were huge and the taste was magnificent. The place was buzzing with activity and everyone seemed to be doing their share of duties from the wait staff to the gentleman working hard in the kitchen to prepare all the tasty food for their guests. We weren't rushed despite being served at closing time and we even had a nice chat with the owner (Louie!) after a hard day at work - such a nice man and we enjoyed our conversation with him very much. We'll certainly do better in the future when it comes to our timing, but our very first experience with this Milton gem will not be our last and we look very much forward to our next visit. Thank you Louie and thank you to everyone behind the scenes for a memorable and tasty visit and for your kindness in agreeing to feed us right at closing time - we must have looked hungry through the glass! All the best and we'll see you again soon...
Read moreFood was good, not great. Server was very unpleasant. Hollered as I walked in and sat at myself at an open table, 'Just one?'
Came to my table, no smile, asked a question and was grumpy walked away without saying a word.
Same waitress then grabbed a pot of coffee and proceeded to walk around offering coffee to tables while I waited 10 mins for a cup and the coffee. Could she not have grabbed a cup while she grabbed the pot of coffee?
Food was good. Eggs Benedict, potatoes were barely cooked.
When I paid, same person didn't ask me how my food was, absolutely not a word.
Again hollered as I left out the door.
I did get to witness the same waitress speak aggressively on the phone to a customer and make facial signals about the customer. Then when she was off the phone, proceeded to ridicule the customer for all to hear. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRIVATE! Regardless of what the person on the other end of the phone was saying, we the customers in the restaurant should not have been exposed to such poor behaviour.
She maybe the owner or relative. Needs customer service training.
ADDITION - RESPONSE TO THE MANAGERS COMMENTS BELOW P.S. When someone is dissatisfied, regardless when you hear it, you should respond with ownership instead defense and excuses.
I wouldn't say it was overly busy, constant perhaps, not busy. With customer service like that, you may not have a busy issue...
Read moreAn incredible family-run business perfect for family dining or solo ventures. Something on the menu for every appetite, large or small. I was hard-pressed to finish a typical breakfast plate, and my sixteen-year-old son who regularly consumes mountains for a snack could not finish his breakfast, choosing to take the leftovers home for a later lunch. The mural on the wall gives a great local history of the town of Milton, including the inception of the diner. I had the pleasure of meeting Louie, himself, and in his quiet yet uplifting manner, is magically larger than life. Louie Junior seated us and took our order and treated us like old friends when though it was our first visit. Guaranteed it won't be our last, too.
The rest of the staff is great too. Louie's partner in the kitchen appears to crack six eggs with one hand simultaneously while buttering perfect toast, crispy on the outside, while light and airy on the inside. The eggs are perfectly cooked over easy with the perfect consistency of the golden yolk running out in slow motion when priced by a fork. And the French toast has a perfect texture that has just the right chewiness to leave you satisfied. And what could be more satisfying than the bottomless cup of coffee? Well, the smile of the enchanting blonde waitress who made our day.
Thanks,...
