UPDATE: to the manager's credit, he called my husband today and my husband said he was very apologetic and offered us a free meal. I appreciate his attempt to put things right.
TLDR: abysmal service, unimpressive food. Avoid.
I went in with my husband tonight and ordered a Falafel plate. When we got home and I opened the takeaway container, I saw I had 4 Falafel on some tabouli. I called once from my husband's phone and they hung up on me. I tried calling again from his number and they had blocked his number. My husband went back to try to get the rest of the meal I had ordered (the rice, the 2 extra Falafel and the pita bread). While he was on his way, I called again from my phone. This time the woman who answered didn't hang up on me, but she insisted I ordered a Falafel salad (I hadn't, but quickly gave up arguing this point) and then said, "Okay, even if I had ordered the Falafel salad, I've only got 4 Falafel here, not 6." Again, she said if I wanted a plate I needed to order a "rice plate" (even though that's not what it's called on the menu). I said both are listed as the same price, and I certainly didn't pay $14.99 for 4 sad Falafel on a small bed of raw vegetables with some sauce, and that my husband was on his way to collect the rest of my food. He came back with 2 falafel and a pita, still no rice.
In the end, we received abysmal service and I wasn't very impressed with the food, either. We won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter a workout session at the gym nearby I was looking for something protein dense for a post workout meal. So I remembered there was a Donair place not even five minutes away, so when I entered, I didn't think the place looked very marvelous. That's not to say it was bad though. The food I ordered came quick, and when I took the first bites I realized I'd been totally sleeping on the food! I'd highly recommend eating here if you're looking for a nice hearty meal. For the price you pay the portions (at least for the Donair) are large, so if you're out with someone who doesn't eat much, getting a single Donair and asking to get it cut would be a good option that still tastes damn good. Highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe first time I went to the Donair Shack, and it was a very decent experience. The establishment was pretty minimal and straightforward as far as countenance goes. I had no complaints with the service that I can think of.
The Falafel was pretty good with a ground meat-like texture and taste to it. The Greek salad was very fresh and delicious, even without the dressing. The rice was not bad, nothing special though. The hummus and tzatziki were pretty good while the pita wrap was pretty chewy.
I was glad that I ate at the Donair Shack to feed my curiosity. I would like to eat...
