I recently visited Almast Turkish in Mississauga and overall the experience was fine, but not exceptional. I tried their baklava, which looked appealing, but the taste was just okay - not as rich or fresh as I’ve had at other Turkish spots. On the other hand, I did enjoy their coffee. It had a good flavour and was probably the highlight of my visit. The service was polite and efficient, though nothing particularly memorable. The space itself is pleasant enough if you want to sit and have a dessert with coffee, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back. In my opinion, it’s a decent option if you’re nearby and craving something sweet, but it didn’t stand out compared to other bakeries or cafés in the area. The best dessert shop in Mississauga. Hands down the best combination of food, service, atmosphere, and even price. Love this spot. Don’t go there without having their cold baklava. I was struggling to find a place outside of Istanbul that had it at this level, and we finally found this spot. It’s truly incredible. The people there are super nice. There was a new lady there today and she was very sweet. We felt like it was so much more than just a transaction or us buying food. She talked to us about Turkish culture, gave us some gifts, was very inviting and friendly.

Almast is a gem of a place. Greeted by the most hospitable workers, Zubeyde and Sude, I felt instantly welcomed. From the stunning and warm ambiance of the place to the wide selection of delectable treats, this cafe was nothing short of spectacular. The cold baklava was incredibly delicious. It is a must try!! I also recommend checking out their wide variety of Turkish delights (my favourite has to be the rose sultan!). The Turkish coffee was the best I’ve ever tried!! I recommend this cafe to everyone I know! I will be coming back again and again!!!

Should’ve Tried the Turkish Delight: A Sweet Misstep at Almast

Intro Scene

There I was, four bites into my sixth type of baklawa, wondering if I was tasting centuries of Ottoman tradition—or just sweet, flaky regret. Turkish tea in hand, chandeliers above me glowing like a genie’s daydream, I realized: I might just not “get” Turkish baklawa. But damn if I didn’t try.

What Was Ordered

A sampler plate of six types of baklawa—some pistachio-heavy, others with walnut, all swimming in syrup.

Turkish tea, hot, fragrant, and poured into glassware that deserves its own passport stamp.

Skipped the Turkish delight, which in hindsight, was probably the biggest plot twist of the night. Their display of flavors—from classic rose to pistachio to blueberry—was the draw, and I walked right past it like a fool on a sugar mission.

Service Commentary

The person at the counter was a total gem—warm, knowledgeable, and happy to explain anything. It felt like stepping into a dessert shop and someone’s home at the same time.

Vibe Check

Quiet and a little dreamy. The kind of place where no one rushes you, the tea flows like time itself, and you’re surrounded by the soft murmurs of other dessert pilgrims trying to figure out what they just ate.

The Space Itself

Visual maximalism in full effect. Dozens of Turkish lamps hang from the ceiling like glowing jellyfish, reflecting off every shiny surface. It’s cozy, vibrant, a little chaotic, and totally on brand. There’s a small patio if you want to take your baklawa into the wild.

About the Neighborhood

Almast is buried in a gritty industrial stretch of Mississauga—the kind of plaza you’d assume houses a vape shop and a tax guy named Ray. But inside, there’s this little jewel box of a café, quietly offering one of the city’s more unexpected dessert experiences. Foodie treasure hunters, this one’s for you.

Hits & Misses

Hits:

Decor is wild, warm, and unforgettable.

Tea is perfect, and service is top-tier.

Turkish delight selection looks incredible—must try next time.

Misses:

The baklawa was too sweet and sticky for my taste—lacked contrast or texture.

My mistake for skipping the Turkish delight, which seems like their actual specialty.

Final Verdict

Almast is like stumbling into a Middle Eastern dessert bazaar through the back door of a tire shop. The vibe is strong, the service is kind, and the baklawa is unapologetically intense. But next time, I’m heading straight for the Turkish delight—because that’s where this place really shines. Stay tuned for round two.

I recently visited Almast, located next to Istanbul Kebab House, and had an unforgettable experience.

The star of the visit was undoubtedly Necip,👌 whose warm and attentive hospitality made me feel right at home.

From the moment I walked in, Necip greeted me with a genuine smile and ensured that every aspect of my visit was perfect.

The Turkish coffee ☕️ at Almast is simply the best I've ever had. Rich, aromatic, and brewed to perfection, each sip was a delight. To complement the coffee, I indulged in a selection of pastries that were equally impressive. Freshly baked and exquisitely flavored, they were the perfect treat to enjoy alongside my coffee.
