So, although I'd kinda forgotten about this review, I've noticed a few likes since I posted it, and I feel it's only right to update the situation. I received a call from the Costco store where the incident occured; the management team reached out to me. They were super apologetic, and agreed that how the situation was handled was NOT right. The offer was actually made to deliver the bag of sugar to me at my home. It was a few days after (by the time we connected; I think they originally called the next day), so I had already bought some sugar and didn't need the product, but I appreciated the offer all the same (and my complaint really wasn't about sugar, it was the principal of it, just to be clear). The manager spoke with me for quite some time, so not a dismissive 30 second type of call, which again I appreciated. Without going in to great detail, they did inform me that the employee was spoken to, and offered to make things right, in a fair manner. So it's one thing to come on these review boards and posts complaints, but I think it's equally important to point out when a company tries to make things right and takes responsibility for their/their employees actions. So kudos to this Costco for making the effort to right a wrong. And yes, I accepted their apology and have moved on.... Original msg: I'm still stunned at the unbelievably brutal customer service at this store. I went in tonight to get like 2 items, 20 mins later my cart was half full (as usual)! One of the 2 items I needed was a bag of sugar. The shelf was empty, but when I turned around there were 2 skids of it on one of the upper shelves. Oh good, I thought to myself... Except when I asked for the item I needed, I was flat out told no, were not getting that for you. I was told I could wait till closing, which was 2 hours away, or come back tomorrow. I don't live near this, or any Costco - this was a special trip to go shopping. The ridiculous excuse they gave was they couldn't bring in a forklift. Why??? It's a warehouse, forklifts are pretty common! Not to mention, ever hear of a ladder??? The damn store sells them!!! When I stated "you charge me $130 for a membership, and then tell me you refuse to get the item that is right there on your shelf", the associate looked at me and said "yep" as she nodded her head. Where am I???? In what universe does a store outright REFUSE to provide a customer a product that is sitting on their shelf, even an upper shelf! Especially a store that charges you to shop there, then makes you feel like a thief when you leave, forcing you to prove you paid for your items. Is this type of "service" worth paying for???? Cleary, gone are the days where a store would look after their customers, do everything they could to meet their needs. Now, it's apparently acceptable to tell your customers you have no intention of selling a product sitting on their shelf, cuz it's too high! You put it there! Brutal, absolutely brutal!!! I certainly will never shop at this location again, and I might even cancel the whole damn membership, and just shop somewhere for free, that treats their customers with respect! My local Superstore, a CANADIAN store, has always treated me like a valued customer. They do whatever they can to get me the product I need if it's in stock. And they'll even go look for the item in the back! That's called customer service!!! This store didn't even need to look for the item, it was right there in plain site!!! This Costco location DESPERATELY needs some refresher training in customer service. Maybe they aren't aware, but customers are kinda your bread and butter. Without them you don't have a job!! Might wanna keep that in mind next time you refuse service to one of those paying...
Read moreI loved this Costco warehouse. I started to come here when it opened from North York, and now I moved to Milton, I still drive here to shop. Place definitely has little less congestion than other warehouses and you'd get everything you'd want from Costco. However, three things that greatly irks me are... Gas bar is setup such way that line up of cars prevent cars that trying to go to parking lot. They can certainly have this re-designed to accommodate the gas bar line up and use up unused parking spaces. Tire centre needs to keep he appointment time properly. I know during this time of the year, a lot of people goes into have seasonal tires changed, but when you have people book appointment in a month in advance, it would be nice to know that when you bring in your cars, you would have someone look at it at time time. I brought in my car at 3:10pm for 3:30pm appointment, and lined up 20 minutes to registered to have someone take my keys and promised me at 4:30pm, my car should be ready and they took my cell number to call me. At 4:45pm, with no call, I went to tire centre to see whether my car was still there, and lo and behold, my car was in bay, lifted, but original tires still on. When confronted with store manager, all I got was they are behind, while I only saw one mechanic working, where two others lounging around with 4 cars lifted. Way I see it, during busy time, when you have 4 bays and 4 lifts, have at least 4 people working, so that you DO NOT get behind. I had to wait another hour after store manager decided to have some words, to get to my car at 6PM. Not the service I expected. I have been getting all my glasses from this warehouse and so far had no issues. However, when my wife tried to get her glasses here, they said they will got guarantee her glasses, because her prescription had 5 months of validity left. WHAT? 5 Months of validity left, means IT IS STILL VALID!!
Other than these, I love this warehouse. Cashier lineup are reasonable, cashiers are friendly, food court experiences are always satisfactory (been to some warehouse, where they do not know how to fry fries, and tells me I don't know fries, I am looking at you Burlington Costco), and...
