I'm the kind of guy who, when I'm on the GO train, likes to look out the window at the scenery passing by rather than yakking with my seatmates. It was on one such trip slightly over a year ago that I spotted the sign just after the train left the Port Credit station: Back Road Coffee Roasters. It took me a while to pay my first visit to them, but I'm glad I did and now I've been a regular customer for many months now! They're located a few streets away from the Port Credit station, so it's a very small diversion from my route to work (I usually go straight up Hurontario). The cafe is run by Alex and Michel, brothers-in-law and friends. They and the other baristas are super friendly to anyone who comes in. The coffee is delicious, and their scones are some of the best I've ever had. In the good weather, they have several small tables outside. What I really love about the cafe is this: You remember the show "Cheers" from the 80s? "Where everybody knows your name!" That's how it is if you're sitting right at the front counter. Everyone knows each other and are more than willing to be open and friendly with you if you don't like drinking your coffee or other beverage on your own. They also have special events in the good weather called "Motor Nights" on Thursday evenings where you can show off your wheels, have a coffee and hang out with other motor enthusiasts. This usually draws a crowd of motorcycle riders but a few sports cars here and there can be spotted too. This cafe is fairly close to where I live and is my new favourite coffee house in Port Credit! Keep up...
Read moreThis is an amazing coffee spot in Port Credit! I live in Oakville and would have to say this is the cafe I frequent the most even though there are definitely closer options for me.
The coffee is excellent and Back Road roasts some quite interesting beans - I am currently drinking "Drunken Love" which are bourbon-barrel aged green beans (from Colombia) which are then roasted... impressions include spiced rum, soaked pineapple, upside down cake. Delish and unlike any other coffee profile I've ever had!
The treats are amazing and it's tough not to get a cookie or scone any time I'm at the cafe. There's ample seating outside so if the weather is nice, it's a nice spot to sit outside and watch as the GO trains go by haha.
Bonus 1: There is no WIFI so you don't have the laptop gang taking up all the spots in the shop. Although I will admit I do hot-spot my laptop once in a while (or just do offline work) and have never been reprimanded :) Bonus 2: This is one of the few spots I know where you can buy Minor Figures oat milk by the case, if that is your preferred milk alternative for coffee @ home.
All in all, this is definitely a 5* spot! Highly...
Read moreI just came to stop by and see what the vibe is. Itâs a cute hidden coffee shop in the Mineola neighborhood. There are fair amount of parking space across the shop. They have fair amount of patio space to sit as well during the warmer weather.
This is my initial test run for a drink. I chose London fog latte with oat milk. Sadly, it was not good. One, I donât taste the London fog as much, very watered down by the oat milk, maybe too much oat milk or they didnât steep the tea in long enough. I feel they should have kept the tea inside. Two, the temperature of the drink is mediocre, it was not hot at all more like room temperature water, disgusting.
As for customer service, nothing amazing. The gentleman tried his best while the lady beside him had to cut Him off to explain something to me.
As for the baked goods, some from my understanding are sourced from other vendors. And some of the baked goods such as the scones re made in house. The mocha scone, hard as a brick probably could harm someone. Is the taste there? Yeah, but not amazing.
I really do like the ambience of the shop though. What would you guys recommend I try? I left very...
