I honestly to leave a bad review, but feel guilty for others that might get ripped off coming here. All your getting is a social media experience, it's an dump in reality. To be fair the coffee was pretty good but nothing special and the truffle mushroom tostada was surprisingly enjoyable. The server was very nice and accommodating when there was a misunderstanding and we ended up with a missing item, she rushed it in 5 mins which begs the question why did we wait have to wait 30mins for the first part of the meal? The other staff member we interacted with was a little rude and couldn't really care less. I ordered those Instagram friendly looking croissants that cost like $10 each and they were incredibly underwhelming. After I ordered and saw at least 6x of the raspberry ones on the tray, that other rude server in charge of packaging them decided to give to other patrons and just figured that we didn't matter enough. Super disappointed with this place. Btw, if they are latin they should just focus on that and do it right. Don't make poor attempts at middle eastern shakshuka dishes and get all the flavors wrong, it was a mess, I think the hummus was from the gas station next door and tasted spoiled.. it was sent back with no mention of apology or anything done to make it up. Also the sweet sauce the eggs were swimming in had nothing to do with shakshuka and made the egg yolks taste rancid, didn't complement the dish at all. And the flat bread tasted like it was from frozen, soggy one side and semi toasted on the other. They also need to offer better value/larger portions if they expect patrons to wait 30 mins and charge almost $20 per dish. I paid $150 for two people and took home half dozen croissants, complete waste of time and money. I shouldn't have tipped but I did for the waitress' sake. A HUGE disappointment. Owners should be ashamed. Also, another guest that knew the staff by name was also extremely disappointed and critical of the service, he was neglected and then treated to a rude server after waiting 30mins. Other tables got the bill and notices that it was filled with items they order,...
Read moreWe came here for brunch after reading some great reviews about Cafe Panchita.Walking in, we were greeted with a smile and were told to sit anywhere we’d like to. The place was cozy and serene.
We ordered the Almond Croissant (4/5), OG Fried Chicken & Waffle (3/5) and the Huevos Verdes Shakshuka (3/5).
Almond Croissant was both buttery and flaky. It was moist all throughout but I wish it had that little bit of crisp on the outside when you take a bite out of it. Personally, the almond extract was too subtle for me. Some almond slices could’ve been added to this pastry as well.
OG Fried Chicken & Waffle was okay. The fried chicken itself was crispy even though it was coated in the ghost pepper and maple sauce. The maple flavour wasn’t very distinct and the overall flavour profile of the sauce was tangy and leaned a lot more towards a Nashville fried chicken sauce. This was quite a let-down since we didn’t expect that flavour profile and if we did, we would’ve just ordered their Nashville Fried Chicken & Waffle instead. The creamy slaw was placed in between the chicken and the waffles which resulted in the waffles being soggy. I suggest asking for the slaw to be on the side instead.
Huevos Verdes Shakshuka was also okay. The highlight of this dish would be the spicy tomatillos, onion, garlic paste and pepper sauce that came with the eggs. However, my eggs were overcooked as I asked for over easy and got over hard instead. The hummus was okay. It could use some lemon and garlic to enhance the flavour.
The flat white and the cortado were both decent. They were smooth and creamy.
Overall, some improvements could be made in terms of the flavours and textures of the dishes. I do like the interior; it’s a cute cafe and brunch...
Read moreMy experience at Panchita Cafe left me with mixed feelings despite its promising brunch options. The BBQ sandwich stood out as a hearty and satisfying choice, filling me up nicely. However, the pistachio croissant fell short of expectations, lacking the expected buttery texture and offering only subtle flavors.
On the beverage front, the mocha was a pleasant surprise, delivering a nice blend of flavors. Unfortunately, my friend's order of blueberry and cream cheese on toast proved to be a challenge to eat, as the toast was overly hard, making it difficult to cut with standard cutlery.
While the ambiance of the cafe was pleasant, I found the interior to be a bit congested, and I'd recommend opting for patio seating for a more spacious experience. One notable inconvenience was having to stand in the same line as takeaway orders just to be seated, which detracted from the overall dining experience.
Despite these setbacks, the service was commendable. The staff ensured that our orders were promptly delivered, adding a positive touch to our visit.
In conclusion, while Panchita Cafe offers some appealing brunch options and decent service, there are areas for improvement, particularly in the consistency of food quality and the efficiency of seating...
