🦋Boy, are we glad we came here!
🦋Lately, we’ve been eating plant-based and primarily whole foods. We needed to find a place aligned with our deepest intentions. I remember visiting this place after a 25km walk from Toronto to Port Credit, where I indulged in the treats Raw Aura had. It had been 4 years since then, and the only thing we went off was our intuitive inspiration - so we had to follow it. This time, we took the train to Port Credit from Toronto instead of walking the 25km to get there - a nice treat before the treats! :)
🦋Raw Aura is located just west of Hurontario Rd on the north side of Lakeshore Rd. When we entered the front door, we saw the chef making food and tables with chairs to the right. We felt at home.
🦋Our server came over, and we chose to eat outside. When we sat down, we realized where we were - right on Lakeshore Rd with cars driving, trees around us, and beautiful little plants right against the railing we were sitting next to. Our server came over and asked what we wanted and gave terrific recommendations. We decided after the first recommendation that we would follow his choices :)
What we ate:
Ravioli Sweet and Sour Noodles Beet Salad Almond Square Blueberry & Caramel Cheesecake
🦋Ravioli
Omg! Wow! How many exclamation points can I type! ! ! ! ! Okay, okay, I’m getting away from what I’m doing. This dish was superb. We were delighted when we took our first bites into this dish. The beets were marinated perfectly and gave us a soft bite. The cashew cheese in the middle is so friggin delicious! They put their sour cream kale chips as crumble on top, and we are glad they did! We recommend this dish to everyone - except if you don’t like beets.
🦋Sweet & Sour Noodles
We must admit this dish was just as good as the first…and preview for you: all the rest of the dishes were amazing!
We loved this dish - especially Sackeria since it’s in her Jamaican blood to like anything with spice. The noodles were made from zucchini and kelp, which was nice since pasta noodles feel heavy, and even with gluten-free noodles, we find the taste isn’t as wholesome as these were. The spiced almonds were very delicious and a great addition. The recipe was outstanding, and the flavour spoke the final words.
🦋Beet Salad
Wow. Talk about refreshing and…earthy - we seem to be using that word a lot lately,
This was the special of the day, or week, or month. We aren’t too sure, but what we are sure of is the fantastic taste this salad surprised our mouths with and left our tummies feeling “satisfied,” as we put it. The salad was significant, but when eating plant-based, whole foods, we find that more food doesn’t mean greater responsibility for our digestive system. The large salad was filled with chunks of beets, allowing our mouths to enjoy every bite. We believe they had a creamy dill and garlic dressing, which was so so so so amazing!
🦋Almond Square
Wow, again! We are finding it hard to describe this treat, but all you have to do is just try one! We promise. The almond square comes out cold (excellent), but as our server hinted, they are much better in the freezer. So, do us and yourselves a favour: take a few to-go and stick them in your freezer - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
🦋Blueberry & Caramel Cheesecake
Yum, yum, yum! 100 points awarded to Gryffindor (cheesy joint - Harry Potter anyone?).
Both of these cheesecakes were amazing! The sauce and fruit were delicious and fit perfectly with the cheesecake. It was made from cashews; honestly, we couldn’t tell the difference in taste from one with dairy to the one with cashews. The crust was thick but added a nice crunch to the cake and felt light. Super tasty!!!
🦋We are so happy we traveled from Toronto to check out Raw Aura. What had been delicious 4 years ago remained excellent and exceeded any expectations we might have had. We appreciate our server's excellent recommendations and chill vibe.
Thank you to all the staff and Raw Aura for a happy, wholesome and loving experience.
🦋This is our experience....
Read moreI had been wanting to try this raw vegan restaurant for a long time and finally had the opportunity to do so!
Upon entry the place was quite busy (and after trying the food I understand why) but I was helped very quickly by staff who provided me a menu. The interior is small but clearly very thoughtfully decorated and I feel they made the most of the space, with a decent amount of seating both inside and outside. The owner also took the time to talk about the food to me and it was clear there’s a ton of passion put into the food and a care for creating a great guest experience.
I will say I came in with extremely high expectations after reading through so many positive reviews and somehow my expectations were still exceeded. I ordered the taco salad, pink lady (not pictured because I couldn’t hold off finishing it in the car ride!), chocolate avocado cake, caramel cheesecake, and sour cream & onion kale chips. The owner was also kind enough to add in the coconut truffle balls and also didn’t charge for the cheesecake either.
Everything ordered was absolutely amazing. The salad held up to an hour car ride home, and completely blew me away. The corn chips are INCREDIBLE and I will absolutely be buying them again. You’ll never want the store bought ones again. Everything in the salad was fresh, crisp, and flavourful. I think people would eat salad a lot more often if they all tasted like this. The portion size provided was also extremely generous… I actually couldn’t finish it in one sitting. The dressing was the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, & a little bit spicy, and was very flavourful. The only possible complaint I could have was that I was provided with wayyyy more dressing than I needed but I didn’t realize this and added all of it, which kind of overpowered and detracted from everything else. However this is entirely user error and also reflects how generous they are with portions! Just be careful/slow adding on the dressing.
The kale chips were also phenomenal and much like the corn chips make anything store bought pale in comparison. They have a great crunch and flavour, true to the flavour listed. Also a very generous portion that I can continue to snack on.
The desserts were all phenomenal, with the caramel cheesecake and coconut truffle balls being my favourites of the ones I tried. The truffle balls have a subtle bit of saltiness that balances the sweetness beautifully.
The pink lady drink was refreshing, light, and perfectly sweet.
Overall I’m amazed by the delicious (and healthy!) food they have managed to create at raw aura. I eat a pretty strict diet and it’s so wonderful to find a place that accommodates that. You can tell they also truly put their heart & soul into what they create and have a passion for bringing nourishing, delicious, vegan food to people. It’s such a rare gem of a restaurant and I hope I will be back soon to try more of their creations....

A probably not-so-hidden gem in Port Credit and it showed as the restaurant can seat about 20 at most. We were lucky to be able to secure a table for two while noticing that other people had to be turned away/put on the waiting list.
I’ve never really had well put-together raw food before so this was such an awesome find to learn more about this food philosophy. The chef and kitchen team work in an open kitchen that is just behind the counter. You can see everything they are doing and were happy to answer any of our questions directly.
We browsed the menu extensively trying to get a feel for all the different items offered. Prices for appetizers and mains average $15 which I find very reasonable. We were finally able to settle on a few items after getting recommendations from the chef and server.
Ravioli - thin slices of raw red beet with cashew ricotta cheese between the slices with red pepper marinara and kale chip crumble on top. The chef said it was one of the popular items and we could see why. The earthy taste of the beets with the smooth cashew butter and red pepper marinara just build on each other.
Miso Me Please - a generous portion of miso soup, sans the dash (fish) stock, but with a blend of red and white miso. There was kale, kelp noodles, and nori to give some substance to the soup. For myself, I wish there were more kelp noodles because they were delicious but the soup itself was really filling and sustaining. It tasted just like a miso soup you would find at a Japanese restaurant but the kale and kelp noodles enhanced it more. I think if they were to incorporate some tofu then that would be the perfect dish for me.
My friend had the sweet and sour noodles after agonizing over all the delicious choices. The server said it was a crowd-pleaser and a great introductory dish into the world of raw cuisine. The base of zucchini and kelp noodles served well to soak up the really addicting almond butter and apple cider sauce. The addition of red peppers, red onions, and romaine gave the dish some crunchiness too. We didn’t leave anything left on the plate.
We were too full for dessert but their selection looked very very extensive.
All told, we were very impressed by the food here. The service is super friendly and casual. It’s a small independent place so reservations would be...
