I usually donāt write reviews, but this experience truly let me down. As a student working hard all week, I rarely get to treat myself ā maybe once a week ā and I was genuinely craving a good Mediterranean meal.
After a long shift on a day, I found Cairo Shawarma on Dundas and decided to try it. The man at the door welcomed me in, which felt nice, but when I ordered a rice + fries + chicken bowl with all sauces and onions, he automatically gave me a large size without asking. I didnāt correct it thinking maybe itāll cover two meals (dinner + next day lunch). I paid around $16 for it.
When I got home, I opened the bowl and was honestly shocked:
The rice was super oily
The fries were okay
The chicken was barely there ā such a small quantity
The sauces were too little even though I had asked for all of them
The onions were also minimal
The bowl looked half empty. I was hungry, so I ate it ā but I felt disappointed and honestly a little scammed. When someone spends their hard-earned money for one good meal in a week, itās not just about food ā itās about trust, quality, and care.
I understand running a restaurant is tough, with costs, supply, and waste. But at the very least, please donāt compromise on quantity and quality like this. Especially when someone orders a large size ā they expect a satisfying portion.
Iām not trying to ruin your business. I just want you to understand how this affects customers like me. Please be more mindful of portion sizes and respect the trust people place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time here today. Ordered the Chicken Rice. There was a good amount of chicken but it is way too dried out making for a hard chew. Rice was alright. Also their garlic sauce was not that flavourful. It looks like they also missed giving me the pink sauce, as I noticed in other reviews. I mentioned itās my first time going there but I think the guy working didnāt speak any English. I asked him what is the difference between getting a plate of chicken rice and just the chicken rice and he couldnāt tell me(not holding it against him, Iām Asian so I get if you canāt speak English but should least learn how to explain the differences of what youāre selling). The flyer doesnāt explain it properly either. I might give them another try to make sure all sauces are on there properly next time and order some other menu items from other reviews. Will update if I decide to go back. Nothing really stood out to me. Usually you need a great garlic sauce and tender chicken for a superb review but it missed both those...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't think it is fair to see a place with great reviews then the actual experience was no way the same so I will be a responsible reviewer here. First of all I am a shawarma addict and I have tried almost all shawarma places around this area. This place is OK in terms of accessibility, the owner and his son I guess had super cold face while they served us, their small kids were in the kitchen areas too, which I don't think it was safe. The chicken wrap I ordered was dry, not enough sauce and the chicken was definitely not fresh, the greens were there for like 2 days ago, no flavour whatsoever. The beef plate my daughter ordered was kinda similar - dry beef, saulty pickles. That's it for now! Still a 3 star review because I don't want to harm a family business on Google reviews but if people take time to read the reviews...
