China Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Mississauga

Wow, where do I start... the foods good don’t get me wrong but the service was horrific and terrible. Our “server” was an Indian guy with glasses in the teal shirt, he came a little late to take our order I could understand cause it was busy. Everything is fine until we finished eating. We did not get a single refill of water through our entire meal... tried looking for our server no where to be seen. Just so you know I myself have worked as a waiter for over a year in a much busier Resturant. There service here was so bad that I didn’t even want to tip the server and I’m the one to usually tip 25% always, because I know how hard their job is.... The server didn’t check on us half way through the meal no one else bothered... when I asked for some water and takeout containers I was told by the busing lady to go get myself in the back and that the bags were below.... again at this time our server is no where to be seen in the small dining hall. When the busing lady brought the water she plopped a dirty pitcher on table stacked one of our plates ontop of another and left it there.. Again it’s not her job to be doing this it’s the servers, they have to be the ones to interact with the customer. At this point we still didn’t see our server 45 minutes in. We pack everything up and I clean up our own table because of how poor the service was. As we went up to pay we still don’t see our server, he shows up from behind the doors literally as we are entering the tip .... I looked at my sister and said tip just $1 the service wasn’t good and was basically like a self serve buffet but worse. My sister decided to tip 8% and I’m literally like for what?!? I let her do her thing, legit the server takes the merchant copy of the receipt And doesn’t ask if we would like the customer copy of the receipt and ignores us. I know he knows that he didn’t check up on us not even once but to not even have the curtisy to say thank you and have a nice day after we left him a decent tip for literally no service..... like I honestly am in loss of words.. who would hire a person like this?? I have been to this resturant multiple times and never had service this bad like ever... To also add to this the table behind me said there food was too hot and their server I believe was a girl came to them said just said “well next time you might want to get regular and not mild, cause there’s green chilli in that” the poor guy was like he will just eat it slowly. UPDATE: SATURDAY APRIL 8TH, 2022

Wanted to give China Garden another chance as we had guest coming over. This time they truly didn't disappoint.... We ordered Hot and Sour Soup, Wanton Soup, General TSO, Chilli Beef, Veggie Hakka Noodles and the complimentary white rice and it was all fantastic... Something tells me the restaurant is being run by new owners but don't know..

IT'S COMPLETLEY OFFICIAL........ CHINA GARDEN IS BACK!!!!!!

Their food is amazing, even their hot and sour soup!!! All I can say is that I ordered twice this month and both times food was amazing!!!! Love my China Garden!!!!!!!

November 2023 Update:. I'm very sad to report that HYPER INFLATION has badly hit China Garden (Malton). The quality of the food is very good however, China Garden was hit by 2 major whammy's (1) continuous price increases AND (2) severe SHRINKFLATION. Therefore as a result we have HYPER INFLATION!!

UPDATE: Feb 11, 2024 (Superbowl Sunday). Well China Garden.... you did it again. You were the star of my Superbowl party last night. The food was excellent!!! Our order consisted of General Tso Chicken, Chilly Beef, Hakka Special noodles, egg fried rice and plain steamed rice. We paid a pretty penny which I certainly didn't mind as long as the food was good. The best part was I received a confirmation call in the afternoon from the restaurant to reconfirm my order and I spoke to the employee to see if they can fine tune the chilly beef so that it's not too too spicey. And they listened!!!! It was a hit!!! Thank you once again China Garden!!!!

Had guest come over for 4 o'clock tea which lead to dinner. Of all the options we thought of to order diner at the last minute, good old faithful China Garden came thru again with out fail. The highlight of the night for me is their hot and sour soup with chicken... no other restaurant that I've gone to can make hot and sour soup like China garden. The rest of our order was fantastic: chili chicken, general tso, hakka special noodles with chicken and shrimp and chicken...

Terrible Experience – Hidden Charges and Poor Service

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, and I feel it's important to warn others. They are charging hidden fees that are not disclosed anywhere on their menu or signage. Specifically, they added an extra 10% to the total bill as a hidden charge, and then an additional 3% surcharge just for using a credit card. None of this was mentioned upfront, which I found extremely dishonest and misleading.

To make matters worse, they require customers to pay before even being seated for dine-in, which is highly unusual and off-putting. It gives the impression that they’re more interested in securing payment than providing a quality dining experience.

The service was poor, and the staff seemed indifferent when we raised concerns about the unexpected charges. There was no attempt to explain or resolve the issue, and it felt like customer satisfaction was the last thing on their minds.

This kind of practice—adding hidden fees and pushing customers to pay upfront—feels like they’ve found a new way to squeeze a few extra dollars out of every customer. And when you consider how many customers might be affected, even small amounts quickly add up.

This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. I strongly recommend avoiding it if you care about transparency, fair pricing, and decent service. There are far better places to dine that respect their customers and operate...
