Context: I am from Kolhapur city in Maharashtra ( specifically from Kadamwadi area, which is properly in Kolhapur city ). Hence, as being a Kolhapurkar, I can confirm that the Kolhapuri mutton thali is not at all the real Kolhapur mutton taste. The mutton taste was ok, but it is not at all close to Kolhapuri mutton. Even in Maharashtra, Pune and Mumbai hotels cannot produce Kolhapur mutton taste. So expecting Kolhapur mutton taste in Canada is ridiculous ( but I still ordered after looking at the reviews ) . For understanding: the Sangali Pune Mumbai hotels have 70-80% of Kolhapur mutton taste, and this restaurant has 50% of the real Kolhapur mutton taste. The tambhada pandhara rassa was ok, but again not close to real taste. The bhakari was soft and white , probably made of bajari and rice mixture ( see attached photo ) Overall, I guess this restaurant specialty is fish and wada komda thali , since most of the reviews are on that dish.

Finally ! This place will serve you the authentic Maharashtrian food. There aren’t many; rather none of the restaurants where you can find such an amazing taste, quantity, quality and homely/friendly service. Please note that here, you won’t find a comfortable space to sit and eat but those who are foodies don’t mind that 😂😂. In our first visit we did eat in as our order was Pomfret thali and chicken kolhapuri thali. Both came with Bhakari & salad. Pomfret thali was having a big size fried Pomfret, pomfret curry with complete small pomfret and solkadi. The prices are unbeatable considering all the aspects listed above. In our next visit we took chicken malvani vade thali and mutton vade thali which both came with solkadi. This is going to be a place of consistent visits for us now. People who understand food, will highly appreciate this place and the effort they take in making your experience worth remembering. Happy exploring!!!

Being a Malvani, I was thrilled to discover Tadka Marun, a Maharashtrian cuisine gem here in Canada. The experience was nothing short of divine! The misal pav was a perfect blend of spicy, tangy, and flavorful goodness that transported me straight to the bustling streets of Maharashtra. The surmai fry was a revelation—fresh, crispy, and infused with authentic coastal spices that tasted just like home. The highlight, however, was the Malvani chicken vade—the rich, coconut-based curry paired with the fluffy, crispy vades was a symphony of flavors. The chef’s warm and welcoming nature added a personal touch to the experience, making it even more memorable. For someone longing for authentic Maharashtrian flavors, Tadka Marun is a must-visit. Highly recommend it!

Honest opinion about Tadka marun dine -in!

Visited the newly opened Scarborough location. I must say what a poor service and had a worst experience! We have been ordering from their main location but was looking forward to their dine in. Marathi manasala support karu hyach vicharani alo hoto pan alas.

Ordered a few items at first, drinks were missing for a while then ordered 3 chapatis which no one told us that a plate has 2 so you will get 6 chapatis im total. Got these chapatis after my husband and sister finished eating. Which was around 30-35 min! Had to go to main desk to check on my chaptis because no one was attending to us. Ordered takeout when went to the desk and takeout took another hour to be ready which consisted only khichadi and zunka bhakari. Which we had to again go to main desk to pick up.

Also, will suggest to add a post that certain dishes are not yet available. Mutton is not available. Jaljira is not available. People are coming with expectations and this turns out to be a biggest let down.

This location has issues with ventilation. We had no ac, no tan, no ventilation the entire time. My 20 month old daughter had turned red because of the heat.

And the worst part!!! owner has no courtsey to come out and talk when asked to talk. Own your business and fix if the customer has complaints! Dont hide in the kitchen. And we were not the only ones who wanted to speak to the owner on that desk.

Biggest...

Tadka Marun left us thoroughly disappointed. The food was so oily that it leaked through the containers, drenching the bottoms and making a mess inside the plastic delivery bag. While we typically enjoy spicy food, this was overwhelming spice with no masala or flavour.

Having looked forward to trying this place for a while, it was a letdown. We tried the Kolhapuri Chicken, Malvani Mutton, Prawns Curry, Kombdi Vade, and Solkadi/Kokam Curry. Out of these, the only highlight was the Kolhapuri Chicken, which had huge chicken pieces and a delicious gravy.

The Malvani Mutton was a disaster—spicy with red chilli powder, devoid of taste, and the mutton was overcooked with fatty bits that had turned rubbery. The Prawns Curry was mediocre, with overcooked prawns and a curry overpowered by too much kokam. Kombdi Vade was just okay—dry with mild flavour. As for the Solkadi/Kokam Curry, it was a joke. It was more like glorified kokam water and definitely not Solkadi.

We had ordered via Uber Eats and will certainly not be ordering from Tadka...
