Contigo — Restaurant in Mississauga

Update July 2024

I always say that consistency is key to any business. Especially a local mom and pop restaurant.

I have had the nachos before. They are not home made, but it was not an issue. Today though, I ordered nachos again and I was taken aback by seeing the bottom of my nachos order. I was basically given the remnants of the bottom of their nachos bag. You know because of all the itty bitty small broken pieces etc. which is what you get at the bottom of any store bought bag of nachos.

Someone just poured what was left at the bottom of their nachos bag and covered it up with the cheese and dressing.

This is a disappointment for me because someone there thought it was ok to just serve real sub par food.

I will rethink about ever returning here because I am now questioning 🤨 their consistency.

They are very busy, so I am happy 😁 for that. And the service and the vibe is always inviting and ultra friendly.

I heard that a New Mexican burrito / taco 🌮 restaurant has opened in the Milkcreek area next to a very popular cafe ☕️.

I went several times between noon to 1:30PM and they are swamped !!! Pack your patience.

Today I decided to go after 1:30PM and it was a success 😊.

I decided to try the chicken burrito + supreme fries. Yes… I was hungry 🤤

The burrito comes “ as is “ meaning that you don’t have to choose the toppings etc.

I totally 👍 enjoyed the burrito. Although I found it to be a bit salty, but the flavours were fresh and tasty 😋. The presentation is impressive as well.

The supreme fries look amazing. But I found it to be quite salty IMHO.

I will be back to try the well reviewed tacos 🌮.

• Update July 2024 *

Time to provide an update folks. I have returned here several times to try their other dishes etc. The service here has always been friendly and beyond helpful. I have seen how they treated new customers and returning customers and it has always been beyond amazing 🤩. Their service gets 10 stars ⭐️ all day long !!!

The food has always been crafted with care and attention. You can sense the pride and joy in the cooking because of the way the did is presented. Even the take out dishes look 👀 spectacular.

I just find that they put too much sauce in their dishes. The meats - proteins are cooked and season very well. I find that the sauce or sauces tend to mute the flavours.

Otherwise, the dishes are all very enjoyable and memorable.

I respect 🫡 and admire the hard work of local business owners, especially the restaurateurs.

What's up fellow foodies!?

First and foremost I've had the best experience with Contigo at their Mississauga location on Millcreek from day one of their first week of soft opening. Contigo is my first authentic mexican food joint that I've personally had experience with. I had a really good friend of mine, who recommended Contigo to me, and that's how I came to know of Contigo. (I'm going straight to the point of my experience with the environment, and food experience.)

I was greeted by one of their amazing servers (Soraya) on day one, her and their cooks recommended me to try 4 tacos at first and my orders were Jerk Chicken, BBQ Pulled Pork, Steak, and Ground Beef. They were absolutely amazing, the flavour combinations and balance of savoury, sweet and tanginess really tingles your taste buds.

I also had a fiesta bowl with the rice option. That is amazing as well. I've also gotten the chance to meet "Free" the owner of Contigo himself and had the opportunity to meet their whole staff, it really felt surreal. Free and his team are absolutely gems. They really welcome you and treat you like family.

I've been going to Contigo since and it's also near where I work. I try my best to try everything on the menu, with different combinations to try to find what I personally love.

I brought some friends along last week to try out what I been bragging to them the whole time. We ordered a variety to share or to ourselves empanadas, quesadillas, fries supreme, sandwiches, and tacos! This time Macy was helping us with our orders. (She's amazing and was really helpful just like the first server/cashier that helped me on my first day coming by)

So far my personal favourites is the bbq pulled pork sandwich which really tastes amazing with lots of flavour, the quesadilla supreme with bbq pulled pork protein option, the bbq pulled pork and jerk chicken empanadas, the fiesto bowl with rice option, and the bbq pulled pork, jerk chicken, chorizo and ground beef tacos.

I've yet to try their taquitos, flautas, burrito wrap and bowl, fries, their supreme line up and the breakfast line up.

Contigo is so far my go to spot whenever I'm craving mexican or when I'm in the area. I've been supporting a lot of local joints but Contigo is one of my favourite places to go to now.

If you're in the area, don't hesitate to drop in and try out their amazing and delicious menu! Trust me, it'll have you coming back for more. Their team is are amazing too!

Their churros, tres leche and red velvet cheesecakes are amazing aswell! 💪🏻

So we finally gave Contigo a try for lunch on a Sunday. Like what the website says, it’s a Cali-Mex fast casual place. I do believe they just recently opened and we’ve been looking for such a place in our area for years now. And thank God did they open in our area, the food was fantastic and amazing.

The pricing for what they serve is what I consider best bang for your buck. For 12.99, you get 4 tacos….be it one kind of various kinds. They serve chicken, jerk chicken, chorizo,  ground beef, sweet bbq pork, carne asada or steak, sauteed shrimp, deep fried fish, falafel and sweet potato.

For my order, I got me 2 x chorizos, 1 sauteed shrimp and 1 jerk chicken. Their chorizo was very hearty and mouth watering. It’s always been my favorite taco flavor but Contigo got this flavor perfectly. Their sauteed shrimp is by means no ordinary shrimp. It has this very tangy tex-mex flavor, wish I ordered more. The jerk chicken was amazing as well and who would ever thought that it was a great taco filling. My wife ordered 2 x shrimps and 2 x fish. Their fish was deep fried and had a very tasty batter. The fish was lightly coated which gave you that crunchy on the outside texture, with a very moist fillet inside. My daughter ordered their poutine and I just can’t say how delicious their version is. There is something about their fries which made the poutine amazing. This wasn’t your typical soggy fries that some other joint serves. The Contigo fries had a slight crunch on the edges, with their house made gravy and melted cheese curds. I was tempted to order their Fiesta Bowl which one of the tables beside us feasted on. It looked mouth watering. I will order that for sure when we return.

Do try their Horchata as well which my wife and daughter also ordered.  It’s a refreshing drink made of rice, milk, vanilla and cinnamon, with chilled water. This is a perfect drink that will compliment the food that you will order. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. They noted that their tortillas are freshly made and I can tell with how they tasted.

5 stars all around, food, service and smiles! We will be regular customers for sure! More power to...
