Well, to start off i was a loyal customer. Ate here once by myself and loved it so i brought a couple of friends with me the next time for them to try it out. they love it and we have been going back regularly. We did not live in Mississauga but were willing to drive up just to eat at this pho because it tasted better than the rest. Today a few of my friends and I had dinner there. Time states that they close at 11 and got there a bit before 10.
We were instantly forced and rushed to give our order and it was just a bit past 10. I get my usual which is a big bowl and some fried beef spring rolls.
once we received our food one of the ladies came up and gave us the bill... it was not even 1015, she spoke to us but we did not fully understand her but we caught the phrase "pay now and eat later" so my friends and I were dazzled at the fact that we just received our food and that we were forced to pay first since they wanted to CLOSE their register before CLOSING time. They forced all their customers to pay before they were done eating.
It was ridiculous and absurd. SO we got up and went to pay so that they would leave us alone while we enjoyed the food. but upon lining up to pay, the cleaners who did not care for anything but to get the STORE cleaned up so they can leave started cleaning up our table. Luckily we stopped her and told her we were not done. She did not communicate with her other employees that we were not done even though she was the one who forced us to pay, so the other employee begins to clean up our table.
So basically the other employee knowing and seeing that the bowls were all still full started to dump all the food into the garbage bin trolly, we did not see it until it was too late and shouted NO... shocked by the horror that 1. they rushed us to order, 2. they forced us to pay before enjoying our meal. and 3. they dumped out my friends (who i recommended the restaurant to), food out.
The lady did not even compensate us for the food that we barely touched that was thrown out and it ruined our night. I spoke highly about this place and was deeply saddened by the LACK of hospitality AND care they had for their customers. Some of the food was spared and i told the lady to give me a box to pack it up since my friend's food was thrown out, but she insisted for me to go back and eat. First of, why would i eat knowing that the food of the people in my table were thrown out, it is as if she did not care that her employees threw it out and just disregarded it. I told her to just pack what was LEFT of it and go. We decided to go elsewhere.
TRULY disappointing. Should have listened to my friends' suggestion to stay at chacko, but I INSISTED on this PHO because it was AMAZING. But not anymore since they do not care for their customer. All she said was sorry and...
Read moreI wrote a negative review about this restaurant 2 days ago for my damaged order on Uber Eats for Pho 99 restaurant. After CAREFUL investigation, it has been concluded that Uber Eats was the one that damaged my order and NOT Pho 99. I apologize to the restaurant for my harsh review 2 days ago that I have already deleted. I’m very upset that Uber Eats is turning customers against Pho 99 restaurant by giving me inaccurate information about Pho 99 and causing me to act so angry to the restaurant that Pho 99 didn’t deserve. This is not the experience that me and Pho 99 deserve to go through. I want everyone to ignore my negative review if you saw it earlier that I have already deleted. Please DO NOT listen to any other negative reviews about this restaurant because they are not true. MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you order food from Pho 99 on Uber Eats and your order arrives damaged, DO NOT blame Pho 99 because the restaurant will always do their VERY BEST packaging your food safely and carefully. BLAME UBER EATS if you receive a damaged item. I say this from my own experience. Uber Eats also contacted me and they apologized to me for their mistakes by blaming Pho 99, which is uncalled for. Uber Eats has taken responsibility by banning the delivery driver named Catherine who mishandled this order for her unprofessionalism. i hope other Uber Drivers will handle Pho 99s orders with proper care and take my review seriously as well
Lastly, I want everyone to know that Pho 99 is an AMAZING place. I have eaten at Pho 99 for over 20 years and their food has always been extremely delicious. To the store owner and to the Vietnamese staff, i hope you can accept my sincerest apology since I had no idea how unprofessional Uber Eats has done by turning you and me against each other. I hope this positive review will make up for my negative review that i already deleted 2 days ago. Pho 99, you are NOT lazy. You are HARDWORKING, KIND, PROFESSIONAL and overall AMAZING. You guys are a wonderful restaurant and i really appreciate your excellent service. keep up the great work. Everybody, please come to Pho 99 restaurant. they are one of the BEST Vietnamese restaurants out there!! You will not regret it. HIGHLY...
Read moreVisited this places several times in the last few years and have always been impressed.
We went recently (late August '17) and were disappointed with the food and service. The meat in my fiancee's Bun Bo Hue was almost purely fat and she was not given the cabbage/sprouts that are usually sent with this dish. I ordered a pad thai, which is impossible to mess up as long as the sauce doesn't taste like ketchup. The sauce tasted like ketchup. Also, vegetables should probably consist of more than a half dozen thin slices of peppers, right? The waitress told us the restaurant was out of peanuts as well; not a dealbreaker, but still.
After we were seated, we were forgotten about until we requested a menu 5 minutes later. We weren't offered drinks and had to request tea sometime after that (once it arrived, it was weak, clearly hadn't had any time to steep). After a long wait, my dish arrived, and we waited another 10 minutes and for my fiancee's dish, which arrived along with our fresh roll. Pro tip for aspiring restaurant owners: send appetizers before the meal. We asked the server for limes which never arrived - server was working the large room alone and was clearly swamped, getting insufficient support from the other staff popping in and out if the kitchen.
Spoons on the table were dirty and I questioned the cleanliness of some fresh roll ingredients, but might have been admittedly nitpicking by this point. The fresh roll was delicious anyway, even if the sauce was just hoisin (pro tip #2: peanuts, here).
Long story short: this isn't our first time at a restaurant; we get that things can become busy. But you gotta have those kinks worked out at an established business, and above all, not let the quality slide. As much as we've enjoyed this place in the past, it's easier for the mind to recall a single bad experience.
Might return, but not with much urgency or ethusiasm, especially since it's out of town for us. London has several better...
