Ordered 5 items, all was 100% Vegetarian and my dish was the 100% vegetarian JapChai
I asked over and over again that the JapChai be Vegetarian ONLY and confirmed with the server that no meat products touched this JapChai (let alone the 4 other dishes we ordered).
The order finally came and to my surprise it looked like it had either Pork or Beef Pieces in there. I simply requested for the Waiter to send it back and if they can prepare one that was fully vegetarian (as initially requested). After 30 minutes, and after everyone else at my table got their dishes, they finally brought me my plate of JapChai..
I had a weird feeling based on how sloppy the dish looked, and when I looked thru the noodles with a fork, I found some of the old missing Pork/Beef parts. I was astonished and very nauseous that they not only got my order wrong but they played with my old plate and took the meat out with their hands (and probably didn’t even microwave wave the noddles back in either).
When I told the waiter that this is unacceptable and I have lost my appetite, he first said “okay no problem.. and I’ll take it off the bill” but returned 10 minutes later with the cashier girl and asked why I’m I returning it.. I explained again Why and the cashier gril also said “okay no problem” and took the dish back… Guess what happened after 10 minutes.. they both came back and the waiter said “how about I leave it here and you just give it away” .. I told both of than again that this is NOT the Dish I ordered and I have already returned it. At this time they were pressuring me to keep it at my table. I told them No and they eventually took it back.
Very, very disappointed as this was the first time I was taking my family out and had told them how amazingly friendly and pleasant this restaurant was. I told them that they had great customer service and throughly understood the value of the customer (as do most main stream restaurants with repeat clients). I am not sure of management changed or was this always their policy but I have never experienced such unprofessionalism from any company let alone a food establishment.
This practice of returning the same dish back and pretending to have made a new one, should not be something that we allow to happen. It was never supposed to be like that. I don’t know what/why restaurants think it’s okay to now all of a sudden try to trick their...

Sikgaek Korean Restaurant and Bar delivers an authentic Korean dining experience that keeps customers coming back for more! From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a traditional hanok village with its warm and inviting ambiance complemented by comfortable booths that set the stage for a relaxed meal. True to many restaurants in South Korea, the staff respects your space, leaving you to enjoy your meal uninterrupted and if you need any assistance, simply press a button to call them over. The staff provided excellent service, they were efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring a smooth dining experience by bringing out water and tea ahead of time and serving our order within 10-15 minutes. We ordered the following:
1.) Cream Buldak Ttokbokki – $18 2.) Dakgalbi (Cheese Plate for Two) – $43
Having visited South Korea myself, I was eager to see how these dishes compared to their counterparts from abroad. The Dakgalbi's flavor was initially more subdued than expected but it still stood out as the highlight of the 2 dishes. The gooey melted cheese balanced the spice laden stir fry beautifully, elevating the experience with a satisfying contrast of textures and flavors. Given the generous portion size, we couldn't finish it all and packed some to enjoy later. To my surprise, when reheated 12 hours later, the flavors fully matured delivering the fiery kick I had initially expected. The perfectly marinated chicken and bold gochujang-based sauce finally came to life, making for an even more enjoyable second round!
The Cream Buldak Ttokbokki was another highlight, boasting soft, chewy rice cakes that paired beautifully with a smooth, velvety cream sauce. The infusion of Korean spice into the Western-style creamy base crafted a balance between fiery heat and silky smoothness. While both dishes offered great quality and generous portions, the Dakgalbi felt slightly overpriced compared to its value, unlike the well priced Ttokbokki. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, I’d recommend opting for a different dish over the Dakgalbi.
Overall, if you're craving a memorable dining experience with cozy ambiance, attentive service, and flavorful dishes, Sikgaek Korean Restaurant and Bar is a...
Read moreI used to absolutely love this restaurant. Authentic Korean food made by a Korean chef, absolutely delicious kimchi, and good customer service. During this covid time, felt safe and clean ordering from from here. HOWEVER, yesterday I went there for the first time in almost a year a things have UNFORTUNATELY changed. First of, I went in at 2pm with no customers in. I asked to be seated in a booth however the server there told me i cannot be seated there because im only one person. Since WHEN did they have this rule?! I’ve be coming here for years, almost a decade now and have always sat at the booth, even when it was getting busy. I was a bit surprised but okay, so she moved me to a table outside the booth and I looked at the menu. Let me tell you when I say things have doubled in pricing, it really has doubled. For example the bibimbap used to be around $9, now it’s around $18. I expected pricing to go up but not double. Especially for something as basic as that. On top of that the portion size was super small for the sides. Kimchi was barely there and the other side dish where equally as small. Mind you, there used to be 3 generous side dishes not 2.
Regardless of the quantity, the food still tastes amazing however, this is now an expensive restaurant to eat at. Don’t expect to come here and pay less than $30.
I can’t say inflation hasn’t done a number on us all but doubling prices? Sorry to say but I’ll no longer be coming here as a loyal customer. I’m sure there are other amazing Authentic and reasonably priced Korean...
