We came here on Saturday as a group of nine. We were seated right away which was amazing 👏🏾
Our server's name was Mariam. She was the highlight of the visit for us. She was very outgoing and friendly and made us feel very welcomed ☺️
We were served our drinks in a timely manner w/one exception I will discuss in a few.
The good:
Seated right away. Served our drinks in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant was clean. The bathrooms were clean.
The Not So Good:
Our food took an insanely long time to be served. We had our drinks and we were busy chatting but, we still noted how long the wait was.
I ordered the French toast Slam. The French toast was cold and rubbery, the insane scoop of butter on top is just far too much butter for anyone to consume in one sitting.
The bacon 🥓 was as thin as paper if not thinner. And tiny specs of what bacon should be. Not only was what would appear to be pre-cooked microwavable bacon, it lacked taste of any kind. As thin as paper as it was it tasted the same. What a disappointment 😞
The hash brown was severely undercooked. Everyone at the table who had them on their plates complained about them. Some were far too hungry and slathered them in ketchup and ate while others did not eat it at all.
My nephew ordered a milkshake which he never received and at the end of our meal is when it was being offered. Then offered to go (he refused). **This was through no fault of our server she asked at the beginning for the shake to be made. We were seated by the kitchen so we saw and heard the bustle behind us.
One of our party ordered toast. Two slices of toast (which ended up not being eaten) cost $3.69 🤯
Overall, it was a good visit but there needs to be improvement in some areas where the food is concerned.
I have been a customer of Denny's since it came to Canada and the quality of the food has steadily been declining in some areas. There is no personality to the food, none of the flavours stands out anymore which for someone with a palate built for exploring food is disappointing.
Will we come back in the future? Perhaps we will try the lunch menu next for now breakfast was not bad but not the greatest either.
Our server Mariam, again she was amazing and deserves accolades as her customer service skills were exceptional.
The servers who served our actual food did not match the friendliness level. They simply placed the food and left. Not a hello, enjoy your meal...nothing.
Mariam came over to check on us. We...
Read moreI would have given a 5 star review but what happened when it was time to pay is responsible for the 2 stars.
The good: Great service, our waiter Maria was amazing and the manager was very nice. Pancakes were amazing and the robot was a cool experience. We enjoyed our breakfast.
The bad, REALLY BAD: We ordered the grand slam breakfast deal but were surprised no toast came with eggs. So we ordered a toast and were happy to pay extra for it but what we didn't know was how ridiculously expensive 1 toast would be. We had to be $3.39 each for 1 toast!!! You can buy a whole loaf of bread from the market for $2.50 and we had to pay $10 extra for 3 slices of toast which made us furious!!! And if that wasn't bad enough when it was time to pay the bill, the machine is programmed to give only 20%, 18% and 15% tip (in that order) with no 4th option for own amount or no tip ! Look at the images I attached. It was hidden! They are forcing customers to choose from 1 of the 3 on the screen which is absolutely ridiculous considering 10% wasn't even an option. I had to ask the waiter where the other option is for tip which is awkward. It should be right there and a customer should not have to ask. She then took the machine and did something and gave it back to me where I was able to add my amount for tip. That page had no other option but just to enter your own tip. They have hidden and programmed it in a way that customers are forced to choose and tip only from those 3% options. This was extremely frustrating and an unpleasant experience. I have never seen a POS system programmed this way.
The owners of this franchise are just scamming customers and causing an unpleasant experience for absolutely no reason at all. You cannot force a tip and you cannot start with 15%.
The manager was nice enough to come up to me seeing how angry I was and spoke with me . He apologize for it but said it's not in his control which I understand.
To the owners: A slice of toast should be $1 max and stop scamming your customers, fix your POS system. Have tip options start from 10% and have a no tip option on the screen instead...
Read moreI arrived at this Dennys before 2PM and was told to wait for 5 minutes. Around 10 minutes later we are seated, we order drinks and two orders of pancakes to start around 2:20PM. Around 2:40 we finished our drink and asked for a refill, and still no food. At 2:50 we ordered more food because we thought there was a delay so we would order food now to get it after we get our pancakes. At 3PM my girlfriend ends up going to the washroom to throw up, due to starving and also having the lemonade might have upset her empty stomach. At this time now there were tables that sat after us and were already eating their food. Even the table behind us had laughed that we never got our food yet. While she’s in the washroom our entree was brought BEFORE OUR PANCAKES? I go speak to the manager and he says he's coming. He never shows up and the waitress brings us 1 of the 2 orders of pancakes almost 15 minutes later. It is now 3:20PM and The pancakes tasted horrible, the hash brown was cold and our toast was served without any jam or anything. The next order of pancakes comes and they are DELICIOUS, look entirely different than the first order they brought which doesn’t make any sense. By this time now, I’ve lost my appetite and im annoyed. Me and my girlfriend were sour, and didn’t want to eat anymore. I ate a bit of the pancakes and left it there. In the picture if you can tell the pancakes look like two different pancakes, made from different restaurants. The manager tried to make an excuse about our waitress being off of her shift, even though she was there until 3pm. He made us pay for the drink which I felt was a slap in the face, and on the receipt it stated we were seated at 2:41. I asked about this and he said that was the time we were switched to another waitress, which doesn’t make any sense because if that was true our food was still put through, so where was our food then? I usually don’t write reviews but this is a horrible experience, left us angry and still hungry and a waste of 2...
