The place was over all pretty good. I wish staff was more attentive to their customers. I went up to the front twice to inquire about some games and one with a potential buy. However no one was there, the second time I went up they were with a customer then went else where. I went to ask about if a game was available to play as I thought maybe it was just a display, the staff said they would go look for the pieces. Rather than standing around I figured I would go sit back at my table. Instead of having open communication of letting my party or myself know that they can’t find the pieces they instead went back to the kitchen.
The place yea was busy in the sense they had people seated playing board games, keeping themselves occupied - yet I don’t see why there wouldn’t be staff members checking in once and a while instead all in the kitchen. Our table ordered some drinks and food which were quite good. Not just our table but other tables had their empty dishes still with them, we ended up not seeing our table cleared until we left- this made it hard to have playing space. To be honest staff at Snakes and Lattes are more attentive. Another factor that resulted in the rating was again another demonstration of not being attentive to customers nor the surroundings was that someone from my party asked about a game to see if we can play it or if they had it for sale. Another staff said they would check, and again failed to communicate as to whether or not they had it. Instead left us coming to the conclusion on our own when we didn’t hear from them.
Quite disappointing in the customer service and good customer service would be tipped according. I chose not to due to my experience. And the staff who cashed us out sassed mouth under their breath saying “guess you had a horrible time” when realizing I didn’t tip.. instead of giving the place initially a 3 at least- I give it a 2-2.5. Tips aren’t mandatory but is a gesture/courtesy, to utter something like that snarky comment above yeah I’m glad I did give one. The customer service...
Read moreDicey Business set the bar for what board game cafes should be like. The guys who started the business care about this place, which shows from the moment you walk through the door.
The staff is very welcoming and willing to help you with the best experience possible. From recommending board games to helping you learn how to play, even their food recommendations are spot on!
Their food is amazing and honestly quite addicting, it's hard to say which gets my attention more—the food or the board games! Their food is affordable and the portions are great for snacking and dining options, and if you're off the legal drinking age then Dicey Business offers drinks with pop-culture twists.
My top favourite menu items from Dicey Business would have to be pizza pillows, nachos with chili, mozzarella sticks, their waffle nibbles, a Reese's milkshake, and a matcha latte! I love the mugs they serve the lattes in, the server let me name the monkey mug Kalvin :).
I've yet to experience the escape rooms they offer, but hearing occasional laughter from them already tells me they have a lot to offer!
Dicey Business also accommodates people who play card games like Pokemon, and Yugioh, and even offers a table for TTRPG players. Dicey Business sells different board games, card packs, and other pop-culture decorations which I believe just adds to the passion that they have for us nerds!
Overall amazing place, affordable, typically accommodates for parties of 4 - 8 well, food is great, and atmosphere is so comforting :) Can't wait...
Read moreThis was my first time here and I really liked this place. You pay $7 on Fridays-Sunday and $5 on Monday-Thursday and can play unlimited board games over here. They also have a food menu so you can eat a sandwich, fries and shakes etc while you play. They also serve alcohol and are one of the fewer board game cafes to do so. They definitely have the lowest prices of all the board game cafes I have been to which is a huge plus. The only thing I would say needs improvement is their board game selection. They had a lot of monopoly, game of life etc clones but the better modern games were slightly lacking. Still I was able to find some modern gems like Forbidden Dessert, 5 Minute Marvel, Dominion and Pandemic etc. Finally, there was a guy who designs his own board games and he let us play test one of his games called sinorda/sonorda (sp??). I enjoyed it as well and hope to see this guy make it big in the board game market. If I am in the area again, I will be dropping by.
They also sell board games at a good price. I was able to buy the new Exit game Lord of the Rings edition which is sold out on Amazon right now... And they are planning on running Dungeons and Dragons campaigns in their store too, which is amazing.
Thumbs up from me. Nice people, good food...
