I didn't feel like writing this review, but I need to create awareness for the owner, staff, and patrons.
I ordered today on a Tuesday through an online order and was given a specific time of over 45 mins to prepare and pick-up the order.
When I got to the restaurant, it's was not busy at all, and I ended up waiting at the counter at the designated online order pick-up area. The European younger girl with reddish colour hair looked at me several times while I was waiting and instead served other customers that had come in after me. There was even another staff member who saw me waiting for 10 mins... no acknowledgment at all. I continued to wait and finally this younger staff member came to me and I let her know politley thay I was there to pick-up an online order. She checked her computer system behind her with my order number... she then came back to me asking the online order number again. She then printed off a ticket and handed it to a line cook. They then rushed to put together the order which I believe they missed. She later came back with the food bag and I asked her if they had forgotten about my order. Instead of acknowledging a mistake or providing an explanation or a simple apology... she instead stated that their printer that did not print the ticket. Who's fault is that? Did she just forget to hit the print button? She just handed the food bag and walked away from me in what felt like, no care in the world.
When I got home, I opened the bag, and the chicken was so dry and overcooked. Hard to chew. They had rushed to pull off whatever chicken was sitting on their grill since they forgot about my order. The chicken was overcooked, not fresh and was probably sitting on the grill for a while. I spent over $50, and this is what I got from them. I visit them every few months... I think they don't really care about food quality and customer service anymore. I would have been okay had they stated it was a mistake and provided actual fresh food with me waiting longer. Something happened with these guys in terms of their quality and customer service.
I know many restaurants have been affected by the economy, but so have their customers. Anyways... that's why my rating is what it is... chicken was stale and overcooked, not longer tasty, service was below average, and it wasn't even that busy. I will be supporting other restaurants moving forward. If this restaurant even replies... I know it will be a standardized copy and paste response like the other reviews... maybe it doesn't even matter to them.
Thank you for...
Read moreFat Fork is a must-visit restaurant located near West Mall and Dundas (west of Hwy 427). They specialize in Greek diner cuisine and the value is worth the price! If you've been to Zet's by Pearson International Airport, you'll know what Fat Fork is like with delicious food, but with more space and tons of dine-in space!
Inside the restaurant, there are tons of seating arrangements from tables and chairs that can be combined to accommodate groups or comfy booths. The ordering process is straightforward, with customers placing their orders at the cash register, proceeding to the food assembly area, and collecting their meals at the end. Condiments and napkins are conveniently located at two points within the restaurant, primarily at the end of the food assembly area. Also, they have four individual restrooms near the end of the food assembly area.
When it comes to the menu, Fat Fork offers similar dishes as Zet's. Their menu has a wide array of classic Greek dishes, ranging from souvlaki dinners to sandwiches, and it also includes standard diner options such as hamburgers and salads. We usually get the pork and chicken souvlaki dishes and the shrimp dinner with potatoes (cause they're delicious and comes with tzatziki). Each Greek dinner order includes a Greek salad, rice, dinner bun, and tzatziki. While the prices might be considered on the higher end, they are well-known for serving huge portion sizes that last two meals. The cashier mentions that customers don't finish their meals in a single sitting (except for our friend, who feels overly stuffed afterwards). For dessert, they have the baklava cheesecake, regular cheesecake and Galaktoboureko. The baklava cheesecake is especially sweet with a mix of baklava and honey.
The service does not fall short with friendly and welcoming staff who are always prepared to assist customers with their questions and make recommendations! The only downside is the absence of a designated clearing station, with customers expected to leave their dishes on the table as an indication of cleanup. You can also order via their Fat Fork app or online ordering via their website as well. Do note, that the restaurant tends to be busy during peak dinner hours, especially around 6...
Read moreNEW VISIT: Just went with a buddy and we swapped out the (great!!!) bacon for the sausage and peameal bacon, Crispy crust on the delicious sausage (my buddy's opinion...I am not big on sausages...) and the peameal bacon was THICK AND MEATY....some of the best flavour I have ever had with peameal!!!. I would, however, liked it to have been crusted a bit more on the flatiron grill. Next time I will ask for that. Regarding the (fresh-cut) home fries: again, I am not a big fan at any time or anywhere but I would have liked these to have been fried and crisped more in some butter or oil as well. These are served in a MASSIVE portion and from my perspective (and a profit price point for the owners) that could be cut down by a third and still present the customer with a generous portion. GREAT BREAKFAST....and I want to head back soon for their lunch menu.
FIRST VISIT THREE WEEKS AGO: The DUCK is gone...but a GREAT replacement!!!!! Only open for 8 months and hopefully it has as long a presence as THE DUCK did. Surprised this area is not being CONDO-ized in the near future like the rest of Dundas on the other side of the 427. Had read about the huge portions and managed a delicious visit while venturing through this area. It certainly lives up to the reviews. A new and nicely maintained space with plenty of room. An open servery-grill so you can watch some great food being made. The breakfast of 2 eggs, four or five MEATY slices of bacon, some fresh home-made potato slices as "home fries" ( I asked for EXTRA crispy and didn't really happen......mighta been nice with some diced fried onions too....just saying...), some thick toast and a coffee....including a tip ....all in at $15...and much better than other breakfast restaurants. Remarkably clean gender-neutral washrooms which are nice to see. The lunch and dinner menus seem to be a bit pricier but the portions are supposedly substantial to match. You might want to observe the portion sizes and split those. Definitely worth...
