Purchased a brand new sectional from smart furniture. Picked it up as we borrowed a trailer for pick up from a family friend. Brought the couch in and absolutely loved it and received many compliments the first couple months. After the first couple of months the springs on a sectional we paid $2500 for started coming through and you can feel them. So I called and was told they sell these couches all the time and this never happens it must be a one off. Had guys come and "fix" it which was already a battle because at first since I didn't have it delivered they wanted me to bring it in- I love about an hour away with a 3 month old at the time - when they arrived They awknowledged that there was a problem and that they will try to fix it but don't think they can. So they picked up half the sectional wrapped it up and brought it to their store to have someone come and fix it. That person came and could not fix it either they needed to order another piece from Poland. While sitting on The half of the couch we never sat on we noticed more springs. Informed them and the level of professionalism Is VERY poor. Said they will call me back in a couple days I end up calling back they call back sometimes a week goes by no call apparently the person had an emergency in Poland it was basically a month of calling back and forth just awaiting information. Then they dropped off the old couch and told me could take a few months to receive the new pieces. (Warranty is only 1 year so I'm wasting a lot of warranty that I NEED waiting around dealing with phone calls getting frustrated, fighting for proper customer service etc.) so finally after a couple of months (yes you read that right) we finally had our couch fixed with (*complimentary drivers driving to our home to fix and pick up since we didn't pay for that service -biggest eye roll here) the couch was fixed in May, it is now end of June and the same problem all the springs are coming up so this time I thought ok let's see how bad they get because I don't want to deal with this awful customer service. Well they got bad. I called today just to be told " well to be honest we took your couch and the guys use it in the lunch room" trying to downplay that the couch has springs coming out ??? Come to my house sit on my couch without bias and feel the springs. It is AWFUL. After I explained we paid $2500 for a couch we would like to sit on without a problem if I wanted to feel springs I would go to the brick or buy 10 year old used. I don't believe the quality is the same in all their products as we have a few other couches at our cottage which do not have the issue but also do not get used everyday so who knows. But what's worse is that with bad quality also comes bad customer service where you're fighting yelling arguing and trying to make a point across to get what should already be offered to you. At first when this happened I asked for a credit to even the store and I pick a different manufacturer - I was told nothat I had to go through warranty. Now I want my money back and want to take it to a store that appreciates my business and sells things of quality - I'm going to wait what another 2-3 months for the pieces to arrive and my couch to get fixed ? Give me a break. I have to now wait a few days before I get any answer as to what's next for all my springs .... a few days is absolutely inappropriate. Go spend your money elsewhere, keep it in your pocket and run, unless of course you just want to buy it...
Read moreI had been looking for week for a bed that had both a modern, elegant design as well as functional storage. After visiting more than 20 different furniture stores throughout the GTA, I FINALLY listened to my mother and went to SMART. (Polish moms; they're always right!)
I met with two wonderful ladies, I believe their names were Pani Teresa and Pani Alicia. They were both very helpful during my two visits and helped me find the perfect bed frame for my space.
I have colourful wallpaper which makes upholstery colours difficult to choose; the ladies helped me compare a sample of my wallpaper to the options that were available in stock and in an AMAZING coincidence, there was a Queen KORAL low profile bed frame in Casablanca/ warm off-white IN STOCK!
The delivery was exceptional; the gentlemen were punctual and so kind during the entire delivery and installation of the bed. They were extremely careful to ensure it was built properly, that absolutely none of the white fabric got dirty, and that none of my new floors or painted walls were scratched. (something I was very worried about as I had just completed the renovation and was told big furniture is often the culprit behind scratches. As well, I had just watched a different delivery service roughly PUSH a desk across the wet road to deliver it to my neighbouring unit!!)
The bed looks even better than I had hoped in the space and I saw their beautiful range of breakfast bar stools so I had to take advantage of their savings and purchase two for my (soon to be painted) kitchen island!
I HIGHLY recommend visiting SMART if you are in the market for functional furniture with modern and chic storage options. I wish I had not already purchased a sofa before visiting this store as their sectionals offer styles of pull-out storage/modular seating possibilities that ONLY Europe carries. These are statement pieces for a great price and even better quality.

We found the coffee table and end table set we wanted and shortly after a younger woman came up to us who was quite friendly. We expressed our interest in the set and she confirmed the price with us. The end table was in stock but the coffee table would be in by Thursday. We told her that was no problem and that we would have a way to pick up the pieces when they were ready. This is where any positive experience ended. We went to the back to make the purchase and after a few minutes are told by the other lady who was at the front of the store earlier that the price of the coffee table is not the same and that the new one she would order would be over $150 MORE than the original price. We expressed how ridiculous this was and even if they had made a mistake (aside from agreeing and telling us the price) she tried to tell us she can give us the floor model for that price. Excuse me? Since when is a floor model the same price?? Instead of apologizing and potentially negotiating on a price (not even for the worn down floor model) she proceeds to raise her voice at us.
