5-Star Review: Open Cork Restaurant, Mississauga
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently dined at Open Cork Restaurant in Mississauga, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish!
Ambiance: The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is modern yet cozy, making it perfect for a casual dinner or a special occasion. The soft lighting and tasteful decor create a lovely backdrop for a great dining experience.
Service: The service was exceptional! Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. They were to offer recommendations, which made choosing our meals even easier.
Food: Now, let’s talk about the food! Each dish we ordered was a masterpiece.
Appetizers: started with the crispy calamari and the charcuterie board. The calamari was perfectly cooked, light and crispy, served with a zesty dipping sauce. The charcuterie board was a delightful mix of flavors, showcasing a variety of cheeses, cured meats, and house-made pickles.
Main Course: For my main, I opted for the grilled salmon, which was cooked to perfection—flaky and flavorful, served on a bed of seasonal vegetables. My dining companion had theeye steak, and it was equally impressive—juicy and tender, accompanied by a rich sauce that elevated the dish.
Dessert: We couldn’t resist trying dessert, and the chocolate lava cake was the ending to our meal. It was rich and indulgent, with a molten center that paired wonderfully with the vanilla ice cream.
Value: The prices at Open Cork are reasonable for the quality of food and service provided. I felt we received great value for our meal, especially considering the generous portion sizes and the freshness of the ingredients.
**Overall Experience:Open Cork Restaurant is a true gem inissauga. Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot for dinner or a place to celebrate a special occasion, this restaurant has it all. I left feeling satisfied and eager to return to try more dishes from their diverse menu.
Will I Return? Absolutely! I can't wait to explore more of their offerings and enjoy another fantastic meal. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and check out Open Cork—you won’t be...
Read moreI’d give it zero stars if I could. The service was abysmal… we had to wait a long time for the waitress to come around and give us water, never mind for her to come around again and take the order. She seemed very impatient while my mother and grandmother were deciding what to get. While we were eating she did not bother to check on us or ask if we wanted to get anything else for the table. We ran out of water while eating the main course, not once did she come around to check. Flagging her down was also difficult, she seemed to lack spatial awareness.
I ordered the pork tenderloin and it did not taste palatable (I’ve had many pork tenderloins in my day, this was the first one that did not taste like pork), my grandmother picked up on this and quickly requested to get a new item for me. The waitress did not immediately take away my plate of barely eaten pork tenderloin after we mentioned it tasted “off”. In fact, when she came back around, she asked if I wanted a box to take it home with me… take home the meal that we clearly stated was not good. I told her to please take the dish away. She piled up my fork, knife and side plate on top of the main plate (while it was still in front of me) and took it away very briskly, almost as if my request was a chore.
I ended up ordering something else, by the time the bill came around she charged us for the pork tenderloin, I barely touched it! My grandmother got into a confrontation with the waitress and the waitress actually snapped back at us saying we should have a “valid reason” for them voiding the meal charge… as she mentioned, only if the meal was “too spicy or had too much salt” as an example. The pork tasting like dish soap clearly wasn’t valid. My grandmother asked to speak with the manager and the manager never came around. I’m not even certain she spoke with him or her…
Overall, the waitress was very rude and had an attitude. How dare she snap back at us when we the paying customers had a complaint. Very disappointing and I shall...
Read moreI took my mom out to dinner for her birthday to a place that's local and that I've been going to once a week for a little over 10 years now. I'm so disappointed with the service and level of commitment to the quality of ingredients and preparation of the meals. I've noticed the decline in the quality of service and quality of ingredients used in the meals. After 10 years of no complaints, i complained for the first time that the steak that we ordered was too hard to eat, overcooked, dry, and had no flavour. Our waitress seemed to be uninformed as to what to do when a customer's order hasn't been prepared properly. Our waitress asked us if there was anything else we'd like to order, but the steak dinner would still be charged on our bill because "there's nothing wrong with the steak from the looks of it" as the owner (Peter), informed her to tell us. The owner then came over and argued with us over the way the steak was prepared, and told us that over 300 orders of that very same steak were ordered that very same day (not true, as in a typical busy day there aren't even 300 customers that walk through those doors) and that we were the first and only ones to complain about the quality of the meat and the way that it was cooked. (DO NOT ORDER THE STEAK, as it looked like it wasn't fresh when placed on the grill). So basically, we were told that we'd be billed for the steak dinner regardless of our satisfaction and that we could order another meal if we were still hungry. At this point we lost our appetite and just asked for our bill. Suffice to say, I will not be coming here anymore. Just...
