Five Guys — Restaurant in Mississauga

I visited the store on Feb. 20, 2022 at 3:50 pm and ordered 5 meals to go; one of them (mine) is the only one which is dairy-free. The cashier (who told me he was the general manager) gave me a hard time when trying to explain to him my dairy allergy, as he said there is only one grill and he cannot confirm there would be no contact with dairy. I then explained that I am a regular customer and whenever I come to this location they take adequate measures without complaint and that I just want him to take whatever measure possible. The cook then began making our food and more customers came in after me. I realized they had made it to order 103, while me (order 98) was still waiting on my food. When I asked them what was taking so long they explained that they wanted to finish all the cheese orders before mine, but they had already made my burger and put it in the bag and were waiting to work on the other four sandwiches which had cheese (so there was no issue with it being dairy free). I then asked them to explain what precautions they were taking, which caused them to become defensive and told me to leave the store. I then asked for their names which the two people who yelled at me to leave answered by saying they are the general manager and their assistant and they will not be giving me their names. I proceeded to take the food and left. I was unsatisfied and disappointed with the service provided, and due to the delays with the order, the food we got was cold and tasteless. I dined in with my almost 7 month old baby. I put her in a high chair next to my table.

Staff was exceptional.

Another customer was bothering me. He seemed offended that I wouldn't feed my baby fries (even though they clearly had Cajun seasoning on them) and kept coming near me to grumble about it.

Staff asked if I wanted security called to have him removed and I said no, he was just making me uncomfortable.

He even moved tables to be closer to me after staff noticed his actions and tried to subtly discourage him from coming near me (by cleaning and tidying up around me, but taking extra time to do so). Eventually they quietly asked him to leave, but he grumbled about me before leaving.

When I was going to leave, I could see him hanging by the entrance outside and I told the male staffer I didn't want the stranger to follow me to my car. He followed me out and went to make a phone call while I walked to my car.

I got my daughter in her car seat and by the time I was on the driver's side, I saw another man (a manager or security?) yelling at the stranger and telling him he needs to leave and not come back or the police might be called.

I didn't want police called because I think the guy might have been having a mental health issue, but I'm grateful that the staff took steps to ensure my safety and made an effort to try to prevent things from escalating.

First time trying Five Guys. Heard good things about it and the hype delivered! Burgers were delicious and the patties had a homemade taste. Love the softness of the burger buns. Vegetables, especially the tomatoes, tasted fresh. Fries were good, they were made fresh and weren't salty. ☺️ The smallest size is good for two people, trust me! They added extra inside the bag, flavour was great!

There was a box full of peanuts, where people can grab a little container and scoop peanuts into it to snack on while waiting for your order or while eating already. I thought that was really cool and made a fun dining experience!! 🥜

One thing I would add is to add a few extra napkins into the paperbag. Since I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with everything on it and BBQ sauce, the burger was full and sauce was dripping everywhere. It made eating the burgers fun though, I didn't mind! But definitely needed to clean it up fast 😇

Staff was friendly, quick, and love the old school/vintage diner atmosphere here. Would love to visit again! And especially try their milkshakes. They ran out when we were there. Will be back!☺️ Thank you for a great first...
